Great milk shakes. Make sure you bring cash because they do not take credit. Also, give yourself plenty of time because they do not rush to get the order done. It is an old time soda shop.

I love my ice cream, so I was delighted to finally get to Franklin Fountain. It was a Wednesday night and the line was out the door, so things must be good right? Line moved fairly quickly and while the ice cream is priced a bit higher than some, it was worth it. The Rocky Road was the best ice... More

We stopped here as our last stop in Philadelphia after a long weekend vacation and that was a great decision indeed. The place is a faithful recreation of a early 20th Century soda fountain down to the period uniform the jerks wear. It is remarkable how well everything is done in decor and how much you feel as though you... More

We had planned on visiting the Franklin Fountain whilst in Philadelphia and wandered over one night after dinner. Despite not being very warm weather wise the queue was out the door and didn't seem to be moving very quickly! So we decided to go back the next day around opening time and it was well worth it. As it was... More

I've heard great things about this ice cream parlor, but I can't say the lengthy wait was worth it. Nothing special about the ice cream that I had.

What a pleasure to walk into an old fashioned ice cream parlour! Check out the telephone behind the counter and the ceiling fans if you don't believe me! A really wide range of ice creams to eat-in or take-out. If you are lucky to get a table in there to munch on your tasty sundae, look around while you eat.... More

They have fliers for this place on most of the bus tours and a friend who is a tour guide recommended the place. It is charming, the ice cream is wonderful, but it is expensive and they only accept cash. Still worth a visit. They are not too far from the waterfront and the lines can get long if you... More

There were only about 10 people in line ahead of us when we visited but the line still moved rather slowly. I think it was due more to customers arriving at the counter and not knowing what they wanted (despite a gentleman giving everyone a menu while waiting in line) than the staff being slow. Some reviewers have complained about... More

The peanut butter sauce is delicious and the "soda jerk" gladly accommodated my request when I asked to have my ice cream smothered!! The husband's chocolate milkshake was thick and delicious. Only down side was the wait in line but the place is popular so it is what it is. Oh, an they are cash only some come prepared.

Locals are always harder reviewers. Yes, the place is a blast from the past. You get a feel for nostalgia. They have many flavors to choose from and when it is not as busy, they will make just about anything for you. I enjoyed the ice creams. I frequent it often. But it is not cheap ice cream but you...
