I loved the Rio Cafe. I'm not certain if the waitress was an owner but she certainly made us feel welcome. There was lots of options and the food was certainly plentiful. Later, I stopped at a store and mentioned to the clerk that I had dinner at the Rio and he said what nice people they were...so makes me... More

Cafe side has the best food. All types of homemade dishes. Jalapeño dressing on the salad is the bomb. Drinks are good. Deco is consistent with style. The other side is the cantina. Great little bar. Becoming quite the spot for live music. Open mic nite is starting to rock.

We were staying in Geahart and the home we were renting from had suggested this Restaurant. We went there for lunch and was not disappointed. Julie (the Owner) greeted us with a warm hello. We had a delicious lunch and she was very warm and friendly. We would definitely go back there and also told the owners of the rental... More

Good meal. Very reasonable. Large portions. They have music. Don't let the outside fool you. The owners are on premises and really take of the customer. The gave me lots of tip on other great places to eat nearby. Who does that?

Please do yourself a favour and stop at Rio Cafe the next time you go through Astoria. My husband and I were driving down the coast from Vancouver, B.C. on our honeymoon and were passing through Astoria. We are big fans of Mexican food -- which we don't get a lot of in Canada -- and we saw the Rio... More

We tried the Rio Cafe for lunch recently and it was great. The food was very authentic with homemade tortilla chips and homemade corn tortillas rice and beans! The owners were very friendly and helpful. The service was great! My husband even found some hot habanaro salsa that he loved. We got some to go and he usually has a... More

The Rio was recommended to us by a local. We're glad he did. The owners are very friendly, there are many great choices and the food is delicious. All of the food, including the chips and salsa, are made here. Get to know Josh, the owner behind the bar. His drinks are yummy!

This little treasure is a tribute to the original owner's integrity, now owner by a former waitress who has kept the spirit going and opened an annex with live music at times. Especially laudable is the amount of fresh seafood dishes sadly lacking in most Mexican restaurants; -and if you want SPICY they will really make it so!
