You might not expect much from a place with limited options in the area, but you'd be wrong. The food, service, and atmosphere are really very good. If you have to wait to be seated, don't worry, it won't be long, and it is worth it. It's not fancy, but it's filling. Besides, if you want fancy...you probably shouldn't be... More

I always stop by when in Grand Marais, great food, ample portions, great people. Don't wait until you get further out on the trail where the restaurants get more expensive, this place is very affordable. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can get a great steak here and the walleye dinner is amazing. The often have interesting soups. Try... More

If you travel the Gunflint Trail to see the Chickwauk Museum or just wildlife seeking- plan to stop here for sustenance mid drive. I like the atmosphere and some of the sandwiches are delicious.

We went here one night for dinner while we were in the area. The owners of the lodge we were staying at recommended it to us. The food was pretty good and they gave us more than we could eat. For a place in the middle of no where it was pretty good.

I don't remember much, but I do remember trying the jalapeno raspberry jam and that was excellent. I also remember the Baily's sundae which was so delicious that even my grandma enjoyed it.

Possibly the best resturant on the trail. I have been eating there for years now and never have had a meal I was disappointed with. The wait staff is always on top of everything no matter how busy it is and are ready with great recomendations. The menu has stayed mostly the same since I started going a few years... More

I love this place and visit every time I go to Grand Marais. Sarah and her staff run a top notch eating establishment, with great service, good conversations, and great food. Thank you and can't wait to come back.

The location is great. The inside lodge is warm and cozy. The staff is very friendly. The best part is the yummy food. We stopped a couple of times. We got the wali sandwich, chilli burger, hammy yammy soup and the best bread pudding I have every tasted. it was Unreal. It was the best dessert I have ever had.... More

There are samples of soup and bread pudding as you come into the cafe. The waitress was friendly, the meals delicious. We took home some dried packages of soup. I highly recommend this place!

If you are looking for a warm, friendly, comfortable place to eat some of the best food you'll find anywhere, then this is the place. The building is the remains of a logging camp right on the eastern most shore of Poplar Lake and at the halfway point up the Gunflint Trail. Tbis is a full service restaurant and bar.... More
