We had so many locals (including a cab driver!) tell us to check this place out, it was kind of a no-brainer. They also warned us that Jacques-Imo's doesn't take reservations and wait times are long. Our strategy was to show up around 5:00 and belly up to the bar for...

most memorable meal of the whole NOLA experience, the Alligator cheese cake I will have dreams about for years to come. The Venision was perfection, tender beautiful sauce- and the cornbread!!! loved everything about the dinner
Some of our local friends brought us here and we were lucky enough to meet Jack when we went in and have a drink with him - truly a great guy. As great a guy as he is however, the restaurant and food are better. If 'Louisiana Ambiance' was in the dictionary, it would be described using pictures from this...

My wife and I went there for lunch. We had the alligator cheesecake and the crab stuffed shrimp. The food was good....was it worth the rude service...no. Our waiter had a very negative attitude...definitely didn't seem to want to be there...and pretty much threw the check on the table. Many of the other servers seemed very pleasant, so I guess...

It's a ride to get there by taxi it cost us $25. but it was worth it. This looked like a "hole in the wall" until you walked in. Then the food knocks you over. Everything was delicious and fresh. The art was on the walls and ceilings. A terrific experience that isn't a tourist trap. Worth the trip.
We were able to be seated right away because we agreed to be placed at a tiny table wedged up in a corner at the front of the restaurant tight by the bar. No problemo! The food will be just as good no matter where we are sitting! The alligator sausage cheesecake appetizer should not be missed. The spinach salad...

The host at our B & B said if you only eat one place in New Orleans you should eat here. Service, food, atmosphere and value were all outstanding. The bread pudding is to die for! I who hate oysters, liked the fried oyster served with the salad. We arrived before 5 PM on a Thursday evening so we did...

This place is very popular for a reason. We went for dinner and due to Jazz Fest and only taking reservations for 5 or more, the wait was 3 hours. They practically get booked up months in advance this time of the year.
We were in a party of four, so we decided not to stay and come back in...

My wife and I heard about this from a local. So we said we had to try it. Took the St Charles streetcar to Jefferson and then the St Charles shuttle to Oak St. The restaurant is just a short 4 blocks up. We're so glad we checked the website and saw they were open on Sunday for Jazz Fest....
