Sit In the bar and the happy hour extends to 20.30 with a great atmosphere despite the slightly dodgy eighties tunes! Great value sashimi and huge sushi rolls plus cheap beer and wine. What more do you want? Two glasses of house wine plus excellent quality sashimi & sushi was $24 and I left very full!

Japonessa has awesome sushi and fantastic happy hour prices all week long! It does get pretty crowded but we got there early on a Saturday evening and sat down without a wait. Would definitely recommend for a delicious, inexpensive meal!

This restuarant has some of the best sushi rolls I have had. It is important to make reservations because it is hard to get in without them. We arrived a few minutes before happy hour was seated and the waiter still offered us the happy hour prices, even though it ended by the time our reservation started. The rolls are... More

This great sushi restaurant is a gem. The food is incredibly fresh, comes quickly after ordering, and the ambiance is delightful. They even have crystal chandeliers. My two colleagues and I chowed quite a bit of amazing sushi and couldn't believe what a bargain this place was. I highly recommend this wonderful place!

Am a Seattle native and loved to discover this sushi restaurant in the middle of downtown Seattle. The atmosphere was really awesome, the people watching out the window fun. I got the chicken yakisoba, brown rice, and salad and it was $9-that was incredibly reasonable; my family split 3 sushi dishes, loved them, and couldn't finish them (which is a... More

We had a good meal at this restaurant. Hostess was friendly and attentive, giving us updates while we waited a short 10 mins. for a table. The decor of the restaurant was fabulous. Our waiter was amazing. He was so friendly and knowledgable, I swear he could have been the owner. We started with their fabulous miso soup! It was... More

I was in seattle for a conference and had a craving for sushi. Ran across this place on 1st Street and it was a great find. I got the spicy redhead, spicy yellowtail and plum wine sangria. Everything was great the waiter was attentive. I sat at the sushi bar and the chief was very nce and talkative. The only... More

Let me start by saying that I love sushi though (especially after watching the film Jiro dreams of sushi) I know very little about the "art". I do know, however, that I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who liked sushi and found themselves in downtown Seattle. Pro's: I first have to give it up to the wait staff.... More

In my opinion it is not the quality of the food people are raving about, but the location, upscale and modern look and the feeling that you must be in a hip place. The food was definitely good, but not excellent, This is a place for a "Girl-Night-Out" and making your boyfriend bring you to place. As such the food... More
