Unpretentious place in Concord Center for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mornings are busy with locals meeting for breakfast and conversation; lunch and dinner range from sandwiches and wraps to simple dinners. Get some of the quality ice cream for dessert or a cone to go. Fresh ingredients simply prepared. No liquor. No credit cards, so bring cash.

While staying in the Colonial Inn in Concord, I ran out to Helen's for a quick dinner because the food at the Colonial Inn is frankly too expensive. Any place with a $19 burger is. Anyway, Helen's served me a delicious ham-and-cheese sandwich which was piled up with ham. Good stuff. The staff was friendly, and the service quick. I... More

This was a reasonably priced, unpretentious restaurant with good food and a varied menu. Our dinner included popcorn shrimp, clam chowder, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, a hot dog, salmon, and blueberry pie a la mode. Everybody liked everything, especially the clam chowder and the pie. The one minor weak point was the watery coffee. If we're ever back in... More

With so many unique, artisanal dining spots in Concord, this was a really bad choice, as this is not one of them! My friend and I braved the blustery weather to do some shopping in oh-so-quaint and lovely Concord (we only live in the town right next door, why don't we do this more often!!) and lunch here was the... Nice littler diner-style place. Good value, great food, very friendly staff. Just a short drive from Walden Pond. Located in the heart of the town.

Impressively varied menu, convenient & historic location, comfortable casual atmosphere. Cash only; ATMs across the street.

A slightly more expensive, slightly less charming version of the traditional New England ice cream parlor restaurant. Tries too hard. Very busy. Blah.

Helen's is the kind of local place where the line runs out the door all the time. The food of comfy and homey and not pretentious. I had the meatloaf sandwich, which was well seasoned, and came with a side of well done french fries. I saw a Rueben nearby which was stacked high with meat much to the amazement... More

We were going to eat at the Colonial, but there was an hour's wait. So we went to Helen's. Fine choice. The line moved briskly, with only a 10 min wait. Our party of 9 split up into 3 tables - no problem. The service was efficient and had a sense of humor. The portions are large, the prices are... More

Apparently one of the favored spots for breakfast in Concord, so it can be very busy. We got there on a Sunday ahead of church services being over, so we had no wait at all. Great menu -- lots of items to choose from. Service was very friendly. A bit noisy, but who cares for breakfast. Fairly good street parking.... More
