Was back at the Black Lion on Saturday in a party of 17 for a surprise birthday party. Again, the food was terrific and the service excellent. Staff were very young and inexperienced. Service was so slow almost none existent. Food....meat fatty, chips tasted of old cooking fat and green fly on the lettuce on my starter! Complained to the manager who was lovely and understanding but her staff let her down.

This has been a venue for our family for 3-4 generations. Took my mum for supper last night we were deeply disappointed. We had shared a pate - that wasn't the one on the menu- which was fine. we both had the seafood risotto for our main course and is was so tasteless and bland it was not even livened... More

Dear Ms Colgrave, I am very sorry that you didn't apear to have had the experience we aim to give all our diners when you visited us on Friday night. You should have been made aware when your order was being taken that our usual parfait had been changed to a chicken liver and wholegrain mustard pate. My appologies if... More

The decor within the bar area is old and in need of a logical rethink, it's pretty difficult to move in some places, because of tables placed pretty much everywhere. This isn't something that could be easily improved on however, because of massive columns, which I guess are part of the old pub, that have been built around. The restaurant... More

My wife and I just happened to call in when passing and we were glad we did! I had the mackeral starter followed by the coley dish which was topped with a lovely welsh rarebit. This was finished off with a bara brith baked Alaska but the homemade ice cream could have had a slightly more bara brith flavour but... More

Had the most amazing family Christmas, real homely feel, beautiful home cooked food, lovely log fires and all the staff went out of their way to ensure we all had a wonderful Christmas day. I would definitely recommend this to any family who are looking to relax whilst being waited on hand and foot, no cooking, no washing up, bliss!!!!

We visited the inn from neighbouring village of Lixwm on a pleasant sunny Saturday afternoon. On arrival and due to the pleasant weather we decided to place ourselves at the side of the Inn on the grassed area with our dogs. The Inn has a great location with a clear view over towards the Clwydian Hills and very quiet being... More
