There was a time when Au Bon Pain was known for their pastries. But those days are over. If you want an OK sandwich or salad there a dozen places to chose from in downtown Providence. Go here or not, but if you don't your not missing much.

Providence is known for it's food options, why bother going to a place like the pain? Tealuxe is a block away and serves wonderful, creative teas and snacks, Cafe Choklad is a few blocks away on Thomas St. and the Creperie is around the corner. Of course if you prefer industrial made coffee and bread go for it.
Second best brasserie in Providence - but don't miss the chance! Great date spot, be sure to split the moules marinieres, and a geat red wine selection too. Definitely finish with the profiteroles, or the plastic-wrapped oatmeal cookies.
A pricey alternative to the hospital cafeteria.
