We stopped here on the walk back to the train station, and ordered a clam chowder which was really good. The lady who served us was really friendly. Lots of locals were ordering take outs whilst we were there, which is always a good sign.

On a cold March night, nothing was better than homemade clam chowder in a bread bowl. Tender clams in a creamy base with lots of potatoes, steaming hot in a freshly baked bread bowl. Filling and delicious. When then soup was gone, I kept tearing at the bowl with the left over chowder that soaked into it. Hearty and satisfying.... More

We visited Salem on a cold March afternoon and came across the steamed up windows at the New England Soup Factory. Upon entering we were greated by the outgoing owner. The soups are supurb! I had a Lobster soup and my girlfriend had the Italina Beef stew. Both were incredible! The Italian sandwich was also right up there. Highly recommended... More

If you love soups, you can't go wrong with the New England Soup Factory. However, I can not understand how any establishment that serves food can say they do not have any butter. One of my favorite go-to comfort foods is a good bowl of soup with a quality bread and butter. They won't even sell it to you. So... More

Vegan, vegetable, fish. Something for everyone. Sample before you choose. Comes with wonderful bread. Get a small salad for a side.

I love the Soup Factory! They're located right in the heart of downtown Salem with plenty of parking (unless you go close to Halloween- you won't find parking for anything during October). The service is great. They always offer you a free sample to help you decide. The soups are ever changing, and there's a great paragraph underneath each flavor... More

Had the corn and clam chowder with the Hamlet sandwich. It was really tasty and would recommend to anyone. Tried a couple of the other soups before deciding on my final choice and they were also very good. Staff behind the counter were efficient and helpful.
