Was looking for good food near our airport hotel in San Antonio and the desk clerk pointed me and two colleagues to Guajillo's. The beer was cold and the food really was outstanding. It was hard to find anything over $9 on the menu. The salsa served with their chips was unusual -- pretty hot but also salty. It was... More

I love this place! This is truly the shortcut to Mexico - it's very authentic. We used to travel to Mexico on vacation 3x per year, but with the travel warnings in place, those trips are on hold. Instead, we come to Guajillos to get our Mexican food fix. You will not find the usual tex mex enchiladas or burritos... More

The cactus salad (napolitis) was to die for as was, well, everything!! Salsa is not for the faint of heart but so wonderful we got some to go. The pork and cod were fab. Great service, very very busy with the locals but our order still arrived fast. I would eat here everyday if I could!!!!! If you like cheese... More

After having a thoroughly average (at most) Tex-Mex meal at the Manhattan Mexican on the Riverwalk, I resolved to find better. I spent an hour or two looking at restaurants both downtown and not. I don't know how I stumbled onto a reference to this place. It certainly wasn't on TA as it is not very popular here. I suppose... More

This little place serves authentic Tacos al Pastor! The fideo is delicious! Very much REAL Mexican food not your usual Tex-Mex spin on stuff. It is just like you would get it in the interior of Mexico More

Finally!! A place that isnt TexMex food advertised as Mexican food. This is the real deal. From tacos to albondigas to agua de horchata. They have it all... and it is delicious!!! I recommend the tacos (of course) and the fideo soup. Agua de jamaica is DELICIOUS. Don't hesitate to go! More

My son, a local Chef, brought me here, saying it was his favorite Mexican restaurant in San Antonio. I now know why. They claim to offer simple, fresh, authentic, inexpensive Mexican food - and they succeed. The interior is simple and open. The menu has a large variety of truly Mexican items. They serve beer, bar drinks (but surprisingly) don't... More

We got right off the plane and drove straight to Guajillo's. It didn't disappoint. We had tacos and enchiladas and they were amazing. The staff is great, and the place was packed for lunch. More

If you are looking for the usual TexMex such as enchilada, you have come to the wrong place. The serve Mexican dishes and it is simply delicious. This is true Mexican cooking without all the fat calories. Some of the food can be very spicy so beware. I have come to appreciate spicy food so I am happy. I have... More
