Great food, great service, lots of food. They have some unique choices...go for it!! I tried the "spicy" glaze (not spicy at all) with the coconut relish and was recommended the lilikoi mustard. I will be going back before I leave Hawaii.

We decided to go here after seeing this spot onAnthony Bourdain, and we were very glad we did! This place is located in a mall (somewhat run down) about three blocks back from the main street in Waikiki. The shop abuts the street and is easy to see if walking by. The walk was perfectly fine during the day but...

They make their buns, the bun is the best part, but so is the dog. Very good and great price. Best thing we ate while on Waikiki. Also excellent home made lemon aide.
Hula Dog is a small conspicuous eatery but very brightly decorated so look out for it. The bun was hollowed out (instead of being sliced) and toasted inside which is brilliant because the bun won't get soggy from the sauce. There are options for Polish-style meat sausage or vegetarian sausage. Then you get to pick sauce range from mild to...

Great host eager to tell tourists about his product and sample some of the embellishments. Not a bad dog either
This is a really clever idea, a long time coming. Take a 6" roll, poke a hole down the middle and put it on warmer. Then when nice and warm squirt your desired condiments into the hole and slide the cooked dog in. No more messy hot dog with the dog squeezing out the end. Hula Dog has created it's...

So first there is a board outside telling you how to order, don't get too freaked out they guide you through the process of ordering. Depending on what you order ( there are different flavors of relish, I think I got mango relish which was delicious) they will also give you recommendations on what else would taste good with it....

Finally made it to Hula Dog (formerly Puka Dog) for lunch on our last day in Hawaii. It was amazing! I chose the bacon taro bun (you have to get it too), garlic sauce, Polish dog, coconut relish and lilikoi mustard. All those flavors mixed together with a Polish was superb! The unique pocket bun is something we saw in...

Very interesting place to eat, I highly recommend the experiences. Unique Hawaiian relishes go inside your hollowed out bun before the hot dog is placed inside. But, for just a hot dog, it was still $7 a pop, so probably not a place to frequent.
