Lukmaan is real. Lukmaan is cheap. Lukmaan has never disappointed me. I have visited the place 15 times or maybe 20. I come back everytime I visit Zanzibar and Stone Town. Low key, genuine, quick service, great foods that beats most of the posh places on the island. Try their octopus tamarind soup. Check out squid in coconut gravy. Don't... More

Wow, this place is a real find....the food is plentiful and very good, variety is great, featuring octopus, squid, fish, chicken, and much much more. A variety of rice options makes a complete meal for less than $5, The outdoor seating is quickly taken, so go early for lunch and spare a few morsels for the cats that live in... More

If you want to try well-served local food and if you want to meet thousands of German volunteers who only go there 'cause it's cheap I advise you to go there.

If you are interested in real Swahili food at a reasonable price, but in a "tourist" friendly location, this is the place to go. Any of the curry dishes are fantastic...my favorite is the octopus. The tamarind juice is lovely.

It's our Sunday morning brunch must have. We're residents and never tire. Beans, spinach, chapatti, octopus soup..sweet, milky coffee or chai, it's wonderfull. Authentic Swahilli food, amanzing staff, and great on the pocket too, quality of food is far more than you pay for, in terms of local food and what's available. Fantastic pillau and lovely biryanis for lunch. It is... More

This is where they serve the real Swahili food and for very affordable prices. Many locals eat here.

Lukmaan offers great local food. While the restaurant might be lacking the atmosphere because of lack of decoration, you will enjoy the food - promise! The service is simple but quick, and you have plenty of choices - just try it all! It will hardly cost you anything!

Loved this restaurant during my stay in Stone Town, Zanzibar. Great food: various options of meet, fish, vegetarian dishes, desserts... (All traditional Tanzanian food!) Food was on the display, so it was much easier to pick the dish I wanted. Staff was very friendly and suggested dishes that I might enjoy. I went there every day during my one week... More
