"Probably the most authentic Spanish restaurant in Hakodate besides the other restaurant by the same owner, which is called Basque. If you miss tapas or pork legs hanging from the ceiling this is your place to go.
The tapas are decent and the chef travels to Spain on a regular basis. Try the appetiz..."er set, which includes about 9-12 bite size snacks. I believe the price was 1500Yen. Prices are a lot higher than at your local Spanish tapas place but this is usually the case in Japan because of cost-related issues. A glass (not a pint) at 600Yen is definitely not cheap but also not uncommon in Japan. There is a good selection of wines most of which you'll find hard to get around here. Of course they also come at a high price.
In sum, if you really miss Spanish food this is the place to go in Hakodate but don't expect too much.

Delicous local food served in beautiful Japanese style private rooms. We only choose seafood which was delicious and artfully presented. The waitress took time to explain the dishes and for some chitchat.
This is a very quiet place with minimal decoration and a focus ..."on the food. This is not a raucous Japanese Bar (Izakaya) but a high-class Kaiseki restaurant. Some rooms have a view of a small and well kept Japanese garden. Its courses are reasonably priced.
If you have a chance you should visit. Its a special place.

"Important: Go down the narrow side street where you'll see a yellow sign with 小いけ(Kooike). There is also a shop on the main street with the same name but this is not the original one and much less interesting.
It almost feels like walking into an old small German restaurant when you see the thick..." door on the inside with its decorated glass. Instead you'll find a great value local Japanese curry place that also serves Katsudon カツ丼 (fried pork with egg on rice). For 900-1000Yen you get an extra big portion of pork or chicken curry served in a delicious old-fashioned environment. Staff is friendly and helpful. Just point to what you want and if that doesn't work some other customer will soon jump up to help you. They also sell some local products and have some interesting memorabilia on the walls.
