Had read about Clyde's so my wife and I decided to give it a try. We found out why this place has been in the food service busine..."ss since the 40's. The sandwiches we ordered for our lunch were fresh and well prepared. The atmosphere was laid back mom and pop for sure. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful...guess she realized we were new to their restaurant. Reasonably priced as meal, drink, and tip were less than $20.   "As guests of the inn, there didn't appear to be other choices but we knew this going in. For dinner we had fried green tomatoes (great). I had a special of shrimp and grits. Good gravy and grits, shrimp were small (it is the mountains!) but tasty. Husband had Mountain Friend Chicken which was go..."od but small. Mountain fried chicken means friend in the mountains per the manager. The beers were cold. We took desserts to go back to our room. Since we were guests, we were provided china and cutlerly which was a nice touch. Breakfast, included in the room rate, was fine. Nothing remarkable. The staff tried to compensate for the lack of view by giving out post cards with the view on a better day. The server claimed they were 'vintage' that were just found in storage. It was a nice touch but vintage doesn't ususally include a website address in the fine print on the back. " More >
