We have just returned from our third visit to Kontokali Bay Hotel in Kontokali, Corfu. We keep returning because of the location, the food, but most importantly, because every member of the hotel staff is truly focused on their customers - everyone is friendly, helpful, and they are really nice people. They make you feel like the hotel is your home, and every smile is genuine. We have never returned to a location for our one sun holiday per year before we found Kontokali Bay. And now, we can't wait to go back each year. If you are looking for pampering, rest and great hotel food (unheard of!), you should come here.

Ok , Just come back from hotel ,family of 4 with 11 year old and 5 year old . Hotel itself is ok ,not 5 star but not bad , family room was bit small , basically a room with small lounge and partition from bed ...definately not 5 star fittings or finish but clean... Sometimes wonder if Hesse rstings people have actually been to a true 5 star hotel. Service ok but no waiters around pool to take any drink orders or snacks which saved us money but you would get in a 5 star hotel.... Youhad to go to br and order ....First main point was "supervised kids club" .... Not that we want to get shot of them but our two actually really enjoyed cubs in Barbados and Cyprus and it meant we could drop them for a couple of hours or longer if thy wanted and have some grown up time .....supervised in this case means it is a supervised area but a parent must stay and supervise ! The area itself was out of the way, small and quite honestly looked like an afterthought squeezed in.... If you want a good kids club , this is not for you and the hotel blurb is very misleading . Food was ok ... Again not my idea of 5 star. Beach side restaurant food was actually pretty good and freshly cooked at griddle but as half board had to pay for this and at 14 euros for a pork kebab pretty steep and most lunches ended up cost me 60 euros for the 4 of us otherwise options were limited. Pool area very nice but for small kids too deep our 11 year old could barely stand in the shallow end , the was a nice "infinity " shelf though for them to play on. Overall ok holiday , acid test ... wouldn't go again just think we could find better value for our money with better kids stuff , better rooms and more activities to keep them more entertained and better food . Aphrodite in cyprus for instance was better for kids and rooms , service and food...Corfu itself was ok , kids loved aqualand and not too long flights and weather great just need to get right hotel next time ..sorry kontokali ...ok but not for us again

My wife, son and I checked into the Kontokali Bay Hotel on the 27th May 2012.
There is no doubt the hotel is very nice and in a wonderful setting. The gardens are beautifully kept as are all the public areas in the hotel including the beach and pool, you really get a nice feeling knowing your going to spend your stay in Corfu in this hotel, made even better by the very nice and professional staff.

We chose the bed and breakfast package as this suited our holiday criteria more, as we like to travel and not be to tied to one place. This I think turned out to be a good option. The hotel provide a varied breakfast menu (buffet style) with fresh fruit, breads, yogurts, cereals, cold meats and cheeses..... and American style bacon and sausages with a number of different egg options. You will find something nice to eat there every morning although it may not be what you are used to at home. In the afternoon you can have lunch down at the beach bar/resturant and again the food options were fantastic with freshly prepared kebabs, king prawn and a verity of other hot and cold dishes..... Be warned!!! this food and drink is not cheap compared to the local tavernas and other beach bars 20-30 min walk from the hotel. Hence we were glad we hired a car because this journey was reduced to 5 minutes.
We decided on a bay view room as our 2 1/2 year old son is obsessed with boats, cars and motorbikes ect. The room to be fair was clean. Was it 5 star? 'No way'! I feel the room severely lacked any type of luxury as with the bathroom although the view and sunsets from the balcony were stunning, it didn't get near a Premier Inn or Travel Lodge on the room alone and just didn't seem right in that hotel a real shame we thought. Obviously there are room upgrades at a cost but I don't feel that is an excuse in a five star hotel, either it's all 5 star or not a five star hotel at all. The only thing 5 star in our room was the price of drinks from the mini bar and €3 for a coke or sprite and a small can of local beer even more, I found a little annoying as the surroundings didn't accomodate the price.

We didn't have dinner in the hotel at all, as we wanted to try the local food and really capture that true Greek experience and we wasn't disappointed once. The resturants and tavernas in Gouvia were excellent. They made us feel very welcome, the prices were very fair and the locals love children but remember this is a good 20-30 min walk from the hotel.

If you are taking small children you may find they could get bored very quickly as there is no kids club or a place to take them and play so think carefully before booking if you don't have car hire.

The hotel location is brilliant with a 15-20 min transfer time from the airport and 10 mins from Corfu town which is beautiful and the hotel do run a free bus daily.

So my opinion on the whole of the Konokali Bay Hotel. I would definatly stay there again. It is without doubt a lovely hotel in a great location with great spa facilities. If your looking to relax with a good book and be pampered this is the perfect hotel on one of the pretties Greek islands I have ever been to. I personally would advise car hire and from as little as €105 for a week it's a no brainer. So is this a true 5 star hotel? The most part yes but personally over all I would say 4* I hope this has helped and its my honest opinion.

“Dear Daniel A,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent holiday with us. Though I am delighted that you appreciated our location, personnel and the overall service which is something we are constantly working on as we believe it is the single most important aspect affecting a hotel stay, I was concerned to read that you found us over-priced.

Whilst I know that price is a very subjective issue, we do regularly check our prices against other comparable five star properties to ensure that we reflect the right level of pricing and we feel that we offer good value given our location and extensive facilities. However, in your case it appears we failed to meet your expectations, and for that I am truly sorry.

We have a variety of different room types at Kontokali Bay resort and Spa and we go to great lengths to make each and every room as comfortable as possible with as many thoughtful extras as we can. Our rates also include many complimentary amenities such as unlimited Wi-Fi, free beach loungers, towels and complimentary use of our Spa, etc.

We appreciate it very much your taking the time to write about our services and facilities of our property. Your comments are greatly valued and we look forward to welcoming you back to our Kontokali Bay Resort and Spa soon."
