I stayed here for one night with my family. We booked 3 rooms for 6 people. As a Marriott Gold Member I was upgraded to a huge suite, with one attached room for my teenage daughter and her BFF. My boys were a floor above us. I have been coming to the Mai Khao Beach area for almost 10 years with my family, and we all love it here. It is amazing how resorts and timeshares are multiplying in this area, but the area still seems unspoiled despite the development. If you are with your family or on a female vacationing with your girlfriends, stay in Mai Khao. If you are a bunch of guys looking to party, stay in Patong because you will bore easily in Mai Khao.

We needed a place to stay for a night before moving into our villa at the JW Marriott, so I wanted to check out the highly rated Renaissance. I am very happy with that decision. The hotel is a fraction of the size of the JW Marriott and is much lower key. If I were on my honeymoon, this would be the perfect place. It is very romantic. But the four 16 to 23 year olds I have in tow are much better off at the sprawling JW Marriott.

The rooms and the bathrooms are beautiful. My daughter and her BFF let out a huge "wow!" when they walked into their room. Great WiFi to keep everyone connected to the USA.

Employees are very friendly. The breakfast spread was outstanding as well. I fully recommend this property.

I am so glad we selected this resort for our stay. I was worried since it seemed a bit far from the major sight seeing but when we arrived I didn't feel like I needed to see anything else.

This resort is so relaxing and beautiful. All of the staff we encountered were so friendly and accommodating. They greet you when you arrive to check in with a drink and towel. They drive you to your room in a golf cart and help you get settled.

The resort has a beautiful private beach that is so amazing. You feel like you own the beach because it is so quiet and secluded. The buffet breakfast offered something for everyone, a great way to start the day. It's funny because although it is a large resort, it is so quiet you forget that there are other people there until you go to breakfast and see other guests. The hostess impressed us because the second day when she seated us she remembered our drink order from the previous day and brought us tea and coffee just the way we like it. Small touches like that blew us away.

The hotel can also coordinate shuttle service to Patong and Old Phuket for a fee. they also offer service to the airport but will arrange a taxi for you if you prefer. The rooms are well appointed a luxurious too. An amazing experience and great stay.

I really love this place. just quiet enough not to be boring. Great food, nice staff, attentive service. I have stayed here many times and keep coming back. Mai Khao is possibly the best beach in Thailand, offering unspoilt nature but world class services. Although JW Marriott resort and vacation clubs nearby have plenty of family activities and therefore tend to be busy, they are at a walkable distance (or use the Renaissance good cart service), making it easy to enjoy their facilities and restaurants as well.

The pool villas are little gems, and worth a stay just for themselves. They sort of make a boutique hotel experience within a hotel

Room tip: Pool villas are amazing. Especially ocean view units.

We had a 3 night stay at this resort en route to Bangkok, so the remote and out of the way location worked for us on this occasion. The service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble and the staff are all committed to making your stay enjoyable - they even made smiley faces on the coffees!! Particular thanks to Ginny, the manager of the main restaurant, for a personal and caring approach to all the guests. Rooms were amazing and very clean. Good facilities and on site dining. On the whole the resort was particularly more 'family friendly' than we anticipated, so one evening we took a taxi to another resort and the used the complimentary transport from the Marriott back to the treehouse bar at another resort.

We just stayed there for 3 nights. The buffet breakfast was excellent, the spread was full of variety n the juices plus the ice cream are yummy.

The staff there are friendly and helpful. We came back late one night n they drove us back to our room in the buggy as our gals are asleep & we had quite a fair bit of baggage.

What really amazed me was I dried my clothes out on the balcony railing, the housekeeping staff provided us with a rack to hang my clothes on the balcony.

To our family, the main con is the location of this hotel being far away from phuket attractions, other than that, it's a great place to stay.
