First off it is a poorly advertised hotel. They try to show off the main Oasis property which is miles away. But they will tell you that you can go to that hotel if you pay for bus service over there and come back by 6pm. We didn't particularly like that the All Inclusive we already payed for needed didn't have all the advertised activities on the property we were at.

That brings up activities, or lack there off. Part of the reason for such a harsh review is the comparison to other all inclusive resorts we've been to, including Cancun this resort was severely lacking. The staff is the root of the problem, they seem very uninterested in their work and do the bare minimum of their duties. Most likely pointing to Oasis giving them low pay. The daytime activities are barely made known so people won't show up. Even after they messed up our room arrangement the front desk staff literally said "no more." No sorry, and we had to return the next day to see if we could be moved to a room we reserved. Each visit to the front desk is at least a 15 min wait, just a heads up, get in relax mode and you'll be fine.

The food and amenities are passable but nothing to write home about.

The biggest plus is its hard to have a terrible time when you have great weather.

Room tip: It doesn't really matter where.

I am so sad to come home after being at the Oasis for two weeks. The service, the food the entertainment was more than expected. The room was clean and neat everyday. The people were so helpful in everyway that worked in the hotel. I would love to live there. I can not think of one negative thing to say. I will go back next time for a month to this hotel. I met many people that are regulars every year. Love it, love, love it.l

Room tip: 2nd floor was great.

We were a party of 12 adults. Four of us have been to Cancun 6 times before. So we know what to expect. We have stayed at some awesome hotels and one not so much. Grand Oasis Palm is the one who greatly disappointed us. Let me start at the beginning of our trip.
When we first arrived at resort there were no fruity drinks, frozen grapes, chilled wash cloths ect.. awaiting our arrival. Nothing to make you think now this is a hotel that goes a notch above to make you feel welcome. Now dont get me wrong I understand this isnt one of the higher class hotels in Cancun but being acknowleged in some way would have went along way. The Valet took our luggage and directed us toward the front desk.
When you walk into the lobby it is huge and spacious but lacks a wow factor. With alittle attention they could make this lobby very appealing. Their idea of decorating must be the Smart Car they have parked in the lobby.
Checking in was a slow process and the front desk people were not friendly at all. We arrived around 12:30pm and was told our rooms weren't ready yet. We completely understood since check in really isnt until a little later in the day. But front desk didnt bother to say "why dont you have some lunch" or "how about a drink". Front desk also explained that if we lost the towel card, room card, or our safe lock and key there would be a fine, anywhere from $15 to $100 depending on which one you lost. Also there was a $4.00 per day charge for your room lock and key for your room safe. I thought this was a "all inclusive" ???
At 3:30pm our rooms were ready, and at 4:00pm our luggage still hadnt made its way to our rooms so we went and got our luggage ourselves and took it to the rooms. Now for the rooms, our room was on the top floor. The things that surprised us the most was, they advertised flat screen TV's in all rooms but none of us had that, they advertised coffee pots in the rooms, we didnt have that either. Nor did we have a clock radio or an iron. And if your looking for a ice machine there arent any of those either. . So dont waste your time. You have to get your ice from one of the bars downstairs or call room service. The things the room did have was very hard beds and a mini bar where everything in it was NOT included in your "all inclusive" package. You have to pay for candy, chips, and milk that is in your mini bar. Shouldn't that be included in my "all inclusive" package? I will say the bath towels was very nice. One thing you will notice right away is all the steps and stairs this hotel has indoors and outdoors. So if you have knee problems this will not be the hotel for you.
All the restaurants were excellent except one that is a Italian buffet. UGH!! If you like seafood you will love the sea food restaurant and the Mexican restaurant was awesome as well. They had put tables together so we could all sit together at the Mexican restuarant and they brought out every appetizer they had so we could try them all instead of individual orders. OMG so of those appetizers were sooooo good. The restaurants staff was all excellent and couldnt be nicier. Remember there are some restaurant that you must have reservations for. Now, here is where the problem lies. When you go over to make reservations for dinner with the conceirge. She has a huge attitude, not friendly, and the second day even rolled her eyes at me. She was so bad after the second day I refused to go over and make reservations. I let someone else in our party take care of it and they got the same treatment I did. I'm usually a pretty passive person but I could have throttled her. I went over to make reservations the second day of our trip at 8:00am and was already told that all the restaurants were full until 9:15pm. Not to worry though because the buffets here are very good.
Almost all the bars are excellent and remember fun is what you make it. So for the most part we always had fun in the bars. Now at times we had to ask for our drinks to be doubles because they were weak but bartenders were happy to do it. We liked the bar located by the front entrance. The bar that the hotel has that really drops the ball in is the disco. Every night we were there it was pretty much empty except for the night of the super bowl. The music was horrible. We went in one night and no one was there so we asked the DJ to play some specific songs to dance to and he said in about 35-40 minutes he would. So we left. We really felt sorry for the waitress in the disco because she isnt making any money on tips because no one stays long enough. At the bar located next to seafood restaurant there is a drink you can buy for $10.00. which had about 7 different types of liquor in it. Hello..... remember we are at a all inclusive resort. HUH??
Now, if you like to lay in the sun by the pool this is definately not the hotel for you. Grand Oasis Palm is tall on 3 sides plus they have palm trees all the way around the pool so you get very little sun at all. The beach is nice but the chairs are usually all taken by 1000am. Get there early, we did. You have alot of seaweed in lagoon.
Returning to airport to come home, we were told by Apple rep to be at front of hotel by 1015am. We went down around 9:00am to wait . At 11:00am our van had never shown up. There was also another family staying at hotel that was told to be there at the same time we were waiting. At 11:00am 4 of us and the family we didnt know from the hotel rented a van from the hotel for $60 and took it to the airport. Still wondering if Apple van ever showed up. Guess we will never know.
Would we stay there again? NO. We know what other choices are out there. Competition is good and we know there is other hotels in Cancun that are better. This is the first hotel in Mexico that I feel nickel and dimes you to death. All inclusive should include the safe key, items in your mini bar and ALL the drinks at the hotel. Thats why the call it "ALL" inclusive.

The Grand Oasis Palm Beach Resort was my eighth stay at an all inclusive in the Cancun area, so I know what I'm talking about.
1. 80% of the staff is very rude, especially at the front desk. I was shocked by their horrible service. I actually dreaded having to go there for anything. The treated you as if you were wasting their time. Also, when we arrived, the concierge didn’t bother to assist us with our bags and when we got to the front desk they didn’t offer a bell boy. When this service was not offered, that should have been a red flag for how the rest of the service was going to be.
2. The beach is crap!!! It was narrow, shallow, and dirty. If you are a beach person as I am, do not stay here. They only have one person offering beverage service on the beach. If you don’t tip him well, he won’t bother with you.

3. Security will rob you; an elderly man was robbed IN THE RESORT by the RESORTS SECURITY TEAM!!! The man was at the bar fell off his chair and hit the ground hard. I had been visiting with a friend in the adjacent lounge area, so i went to assist (I am an R.N.)He was an elderly man, so it was possible that it could have been a medical issue and not just that the man was intoxicated, so I treated the situation as a possible medical issue. It took security over 20 minutes to get there. When they did arrive, there were three of them. None were trained in basic emergency procedures. They brought a wheelchair for the man, to get him up to his room. The one security person asked my friend and I to help him get the man into the wheelchair while the other two security persons stood there presumable with their thumbs up their backsides. The next day we learned that the security staff that were there to assist the man actually robbed the elderly man when they got him up to his room.
3. FOOD QUALITY IS O.K. – about what I expected.
4. DON’T EXPECT TO GET A SNACK WHEN YOU WANT ONE!!! Once the "Snack bar" areas run out of food for the day, they don't restock. If you want a snack between 3 & 7 pm, don't bother. If you ask for chips they will pretend they don't understand & behave rudely. I tried to get a to-go plate from one of the buffets and was told that it was not allowed. This is unheard of at any other resort. I've stayed at 2-star all inclusive resorts that had way better food, where half the price, where good food was constantly available when you wanted it, and the service was always better (The Flamingo, Cancun).
All in all, we booked 5 nights. I could not wait to get out of there. I truly cannot convey how horrible this resort was for the price. Seriously, look elsewhere. You can get way better quality of service at a lower price at other resorts. I booked this trip at the last minute (less than 2 weeks before) and read the reviews before we left, so I knew that this place may be subpar. I had no idea how bad it was really going to be.

Room tip: Booko your trip somewhere else!
