Went to The Bay Trecarn Hotel on a 5 day trip with National Coaches. We went has a couple. We travelled down from Middlesbrough, the journey was long put passed quite quick with just enough stops for coffee etc. The hotel itself was OK. We asked for a refurbished room, but did not get one, however apart from the bathroom needing a make over, and even a change of size, ( it was like an under the stairs cloak room) when you stood at the basin your back touched the door. We had to get dryed in the bedroom. The bedroom itself was OK ( room 167), however a bit on the small size. It was clean enough, and did have a nice view over the front of hotel gardens. Meals were fine, however if your are in a rush, it might be best you eat else where. Every night we asked for water, and every night we did not get any. We asked why and were informed they do not have enought water jugs to go around :-(. We were late being served each evening, even though we tried going down a different times. No matter what time we went, we had to wait until any late commers were served first. One evening we waited 30mins or more before we we offered desert. when we asked why this happened each evening, the waitress informed us that all mail courses must be served first. We asked the manager who informed us that this was true, we pointed out that other guesses, which were being served by other waiters/waitresses and arrived the same time as us were not having the same problems. We were told that our waitress was one of their best, so we must be wrong. ( change tables if seated at table 17 ot near by). Appart from that all other members of staff were great, friendly and helpful. The entertainment was ok especialy Mr Chamagne. I would recomend this hotel, just needs meal times sorting. We had great days out to Plymouth, Dartmouth and Brixham all beautiful places to visit. The best place to visit in Babbacome is the model village. It costs £10 to enter, this also entitles you to return visits for 7 days, including evenings to see the village lit up. Bus stops to Torquay are 2 min walk from hotel.
