My daughter and I stayed in a Mississippi room for 2 nights in November and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We took the 170 bus from Victoria which was less difficult than the journey to Victoria from Euston (the Victoria and part of the Northern Lines were off) left our things and were out and about all evening. Getting back from central London after 1am was really easy as there is a night bus that drops you almost outside the hotel so transport was absolutely no problem. The room was large with a huge bathroom, very clean and easy to heat up/cool down according to our needs. The bed was really comfortable and because of a combination of blackout blinds and soundproofing we had a fantastically good sleep. Shower is powerful but not overpowering and lots of hot water. We had a meal on our second night in the restaurant and it was very tasty, beautifully presented and, with the in house deal, extremely good value. All the staff, without fault, were helpful and cheerful, particularly in the restaurant where my daughter had a number of particular requests which they dealt with politely and speedily. It was good to be able to use the wi-fi without an extra fee and the library area on the first floor was useful for a bit of work my daughter had to do. The price we paid was highly competitive and we will certainly return.
I have stayed twice and I am sure I will be staying more in the future! The reception staff, bar staff, all the staff (espeacially the driver) was warm hospitable and just down right lovely. It was my birthday the second time round to which I recieved the best cup cakes I have ever tasted! I would like to recommend this hotel to everyone... but Im scared that if everyone knows this gem of a hotel it would be harder for me to book a room! Thankyou Rafayel keepup the good work!!
With most of our family living near to the hotel we decided to book their 3rd floor Nirvana lounge for my daughter's 18th Birthday Party on Friday 18th November. Over the few weeks before the party I was constantly in contact with Chris(manager), Pawel(assistant manager) & Richard(catering manager) - even the owner Mr Iqbal Latif got involved. I explained to them that my daughter wanted a fancy dress, Harry Potter party and we started throwing ideas at each other, nothing was too much trouble. I told them as a surprise I would like to have live Owls greet the guests at the entrance to the hotel and they put me in touch with Phil at http://www.owl-wise.co.uk/meetourowls.html and this was arranged. I asked for a special Harry Potter birthday cake to be made and they put me in touch with Laura at http://www.laura-homemade-cakes.co.uk/large_cake_pages/large_celebrations_cakes_12.html you can actually see my daughter Alexandria's cake on the right - a work of art. I asked for a magician and they arranged for Myke Phillips a local man I was to find out, who was truly magical, unfortunately I can't find his website. They also arranged for a dj and my daughter was able to send him a playlist for which he found all the tracks requested, not easy considering she's a rock chick.
Probably the most amazing thing was the way the Nirvana lounge was decorated, when my daughter entered she told me she thought she was walking into Howarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, they had used some of the Halloween decorations from a previous party combined with books from the library, all black table cloths and chairs covered in glitter. Their handy man Thomas had made a hand painted Hogwarts sign at the entrance to the lounge and above the bar he had two hand cut signs of The Leaky Cauldron (brilliant). Their tech guy Tullah had recorded Moaning Myrtle on a loop and played it in the toilets (haha it was hilarious). It would seem nothing is too trouble for the owner and staff of this hotel and the views from the Nirvana lounge looking over the river were breathtaking. When we entered the lounge after having photo's taken with the Owls my daughter had tears of joy in her eyes which had her mother and I choking. We also had a brilliant 4 course Indian buffet, our prefered choice - the food was excellent. To sum it all up I ask my daughter at the end of the night, "How was it" she said, "That was the best night of my life ever."
A huge thanks to everone at Hotel Rafayel, a 5 star experience and a perfect night.
I first stayed in the Rafayel upon its soft opening just over 2 years ago and the excellent standards and level of Service has remained if not got better over the years. The Staff from the Owner Iqbal ,to the waiting staff remain nearly all the same so they have created a Great personal ambience and a welcoming warmth. Rooms are still to the same high standard and when on occasion I have reported any faults within the room the response from the Owner and his Team have been suberb.
I visit London regulary and would not stay anywhere else as I always recieve excellent treatment from all. Banyan Restaurant whick overlooks the Thames is still very good and there are some great deals to be had in the Hotels Spa. Location is also excellent with the Victoria Station Bus service stop on the Hotels doorstep as well as Clapham Junction Rail station. Well Done Iqbal and staff.
Stayed at this hotel before our honeymoon in the Thames room. View was brilliant especially of the helipad. Room was comfortable and clean. Bed was uncomfortable for me but wife thought it was OK. Only 3 stars given as many of the promised facilities were not available or working. iPod dock not working, DVD player not available and no games console in sight. Called reception 3 times, which was severely under-staffed, and asked for help. Went for dinner and returned to no solution. When the "IT Manager" finally arrived who looked strangely like the receptionist, he mentioned there was a problem with the dock. In the morning we asked what would be done about it and was met by the Manager in charge who was very rude and condescending suggesting the problem was with my iPod of which I have 2 and an iPhone and that "there was no need looking for a discount". Peeved me right off and ruined my afternoon. This is not what 5 star treatment is about. Parking also extra at £15, which manager did discount to his credit (after I flipped out). No valet or concierge in sight both times we arrived. Car returned with dirt splashes on the bonnet. In the middle of nowhere too, which isn't bad if you have your own transport but don't expect to walk out to any hustle/bustle or tube. More of a business hotel for those who just happen to be in the area. Simply because of that Manager I will never return. I've stayed in 5 star hotels before and this place doesn't come close. 4 star at the most.
