First off, ashfield was just amazing all around. Both Connors at the desk were more than helpful and pleasant. One night, my friend and I went downstairs and asked Connor where we could go to eat and he drew out on a map where places were and what would be good for a reasonable price. All of the rooms I saw had an ensuite bathroom with plenty of hot water for everyone (there were 5 girls in my room) The wifi worked in room and breakfast in the AM was great (toast, tee, coffee, yogurt, hard boiled eggs)

Would stay here again and again!

The location is amazing and you have access to all important parts of Dublin (for a tourist). Accommodation was decent, although the door locks could have been more reliable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. My friends and I had a great time and we hope to return.

For the money we paid, it was pretty much what we expected. Fairly average facilities and rooms, but no better or worse than any other hostel we have stayed at before. The staff, particularly the man at the front desk who plays music all afternoon, were great and very helpful. The location was probably the highlight of the hostel, perfect for exploring any location in Dublin, and extremely easy to get to and from the airport. Also, as we were on a budget, the free breakfast every morning helped a lot.

Room tip: Keep your belongings locked in your bag when you are out and asleep.

This was the worst hostel I've ever stayed in. The only good thing about it was the location, which was right in the city centre next to Trinity college. However, the atmosphere was horrible. I stayed in one of the 18 bed mixed rooms, and the lock on our door was incredibly difficult to open, so much so that people constantly had to get up to let people in who were having problems with the lock. The first night I was there, a couple decided to have a prolonged "couple time", in the room and bathroom, while several of us were still in the room. While this incident in itself was not the hostel's fault, they handled it incredibly poorly. Somebody from the front desk showed up several hours after the couple finished, (at between 1 and 2 in the morning), when everyone was asleep and turned the room lights on to drag the offending couple out of the room. They then stood in the room reprimanding the couple for several minutes before finally taking them into the hallway and turning the lights back off. Then the couple was allowed to stay in the hostel, in the same room for the rest of their stay. However, that being said, if you could book a private room at this hostel, it may be worth it for the location alone.

Room tip: Choose a private room.

Staff during the day were super friendly, helped us with how to get to certain places, ordered us taxis and one of the guys working there was great craic and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived.
Hostel is cheap, beds are comfortable enough, and you can sit and have a drink in the common room after a night out which was good, as you're only round the corner from temple bar.
Breakfast is served free with your stay...just simple things like fruit, yougart, cereal, tea and coffee etc.
The only compliant I'd have is the heat of the hostel...it was very warm, everywhere we went we were sweating...the windows are restricted to only open slightly, which is annoying...especially when the room is full of 6 people.
