We were disgusted with the accomodation provided to us. We paid for a twin room at Paddy's Palace Dublin (Room 1). We opened the door to a shoebox/closet sized room that reeked of foot odour/wet carpet. There was mould growing on the window and on the curtains. We immediately checked out and found accomodation elsewhere. We asked for a refund but were told as we already paid on my card, I would have to email the owner! I would strongly recommend against staying here!!!! They also have a dodgy set up for getting into the building. The accomodation is around the corner from the reception. You have to press a stupid buzzer thing and hope someone opens it for you from reception. I'm not sure how they know you are actually staying there as there is no camera above the door or any other way of identifying you. Dodgy!!! On the other hand, their tours are fantastic!! Take my advice- do the tour but stay elsewhere. There are plenty of other places next door and on the same street. Happy travels :)

Room tip: Stay away from the Palace but do one of their tours.

I hve been in other hostel in my life , but this one is the worst one and I agree totally with the last review about using the irish culture , Firstly the staff are ok but it not there fault since every time their is new staff, secondly the owner who is a tall bold guy don't have any education , no manner , yelling to staff infront customer and is also a casanova , he think he look handsome , he should check he face in the mirror before flirting or trying to call my friend princess which she didn't appreciate it . The hostel need a lot of repair , the shower is not clean more funny you have to press on a button for the water to come out and the shower was cold , The only positivity of this hostel is location that it .By the way be careful when you go through the black door , there is no security there don't let any value stuff in your room even if your room is private , since there is a lot of junky who can get in easily in that hostel , Not safe place

The bright green leprechauns everywhere were very off-putting. That said, the hostel was clean, had a computer and internet, and provided a free airport shuttle (although it only ran every other hour). Free breakfast was cereal and toast - standard. The luggage room got stuck and we almost couldn't get our bags out - apparently this is a fairly frequent occurrence. They do not give refunds (we discovered this when rescheduled flights caused us to change our plans, completely out of our control). The beds are comfortable enough, but it's impossible to sit up in the lower bunk. It was definitely a nice/standard hostel, I just hated the company's insensitive exploitation of Irish culture.

Paddy’s Palace, Dublin, is right down town, so you can walk to just about everything. You will see some of our thoughts about Paddy's below, but in a nutshell we will look for someplace else to stay the next time we are in Dublin. And from what we saw there are a LOT of places to choose form that are in the same proximity to downtown. The "Paddy's" franchise is a large operation. You will see them and their green busses all over Ireland. They offer all sort of tours.
Pros:
* Large rooms.
* With a two night stay they provided a FREE bus tour to Kilkenny and Glendalough. The bus was very comfortable and the driver was very knowledgeable and entertaining.
* Great location.
* Free WiFi.

Cons:
* Our room was in a separate buildings. We needed to walk outside to get to the front desk, common room (where the WiFi was located) and kitchen.
* Our window did not open so the room was smelly.
* Bathrooms smelled.
* WiFi only available in the common room.

After checking in, to a single, no bigger than a walk in closet, had a cleaning lady come in while I was sleeping off jet lag in my boxers! No sheets on me but she had to clean a newly rented room???! Also their "free" tour if you stay for two or more nights is a joke!! I booked it when I checked in, got up early to get the bus, was called a "freebie" in disgust by the driver, then when he tried to pick up more people, kicked myself & two girls off because of paying customers? Left us a 20min walk from the hostel not knowing where we were!! So if you like horrible rooms, staff, management, filth, go nuts!! There are many better places, same price or less. Don't be fooled by their promises & garbage! You will not enjoy your stay in such a great city if you stay in such a hole!!
