I think this hostel has seen better days. It's not very clean. Empty bottles pile up next to the bar through out the week.
Inside the hostel feels more run down than charismatic. None of the doors to the dorm rooms lock. The lockers are too small for a suitcase and could be easily broken into.
The wifi is good, but it doesn't reach all the areas and drops out occasionally. There are two separate communal showers, but most rooms have their own bathroom.
The kitchen is fully equipped and has an oven, but fridge space is an issue and there is no place for dry goods storage.
Breakfast is free 8-11am, and is cereal, toast, muffins and tea/coffee.
The hostel has a lot of potential, just not the energy behind it. The staff were smoking weed out front openly when I arrived for check-in, and they are rarely at the front desk.
There aren't enough plug-in sockets per bed in EVERY bedroom.
There is no control of noise after midnight. Drunk people can harass the people in the 4 bed room near the top terrace through the window and access their bathroom if the windows are open at all, same for the downstairs bedroom.
The cooked dinners each night are great, but not much value for money. You get one course for €8 with no drinks or anything else included, and if you want to cook your own meal you are usually stuck waiting until after they are finished.
Lots of locals, that are friends with the staff, come to the hostel every day and night. They socialize with the staff only and use the facilities, taking up space that the guests could use.
For the last few days of my stay there was a dog and puppy brought into the hostel. They were cute but put hair everywhere and the puppy was weeing everywhere all the time. Lucky I'm not allergic to animals.
I didn't get much interaction from most of the staff, but the lady that works there was quite pleasant.
This place is nice, but I would go to a proper hostel next time I am in Malaga.
