Nice atmosphere in this restored old castle. Modern rooms, nice staf; in small village located. Good price/ quality. A nice alternative for the 12 km far city. Not very much to do, but that can be very relaxing.

Stayed one very enjoyable night in this hotel in late September. It is situated at the top of the town and reached by some narrow streets. Owners are very friendly, room was clean and comfortable and overlooked the countryside to the rear of the hotel, the shower area was however a little cramped. We had an excellent evening meal and whilst the buffet breakfast was basic it was adequate. Situated between Zaragoza and Madrid it is a good stopover point en route to southern Spain. Would happily stay again.

We were looking to stay on a place between Madrid and Zaragoza, not far from the main road, when we came accross the good TAs reviews about this place. I called the hotel in advance, just to be sure about internet and parking availability and was lucky to receive a better rate than the one advertised on a travel site.

The small hotel has 11 rooms and ours was very clean, with a good size (and view) and the air conditioning worked very well. There were 2 free wi-fi networks available, so we could choose the one that had the best coverage for the location of our room.
We arrived around 21h30 and we saw that no one was having dinner, only drinks. We asked the host if there was a chance of us getting dinner. He explained that on Sunday normally no one would show up for dinner (from the village) and the other guests were out enjoying the sites. He, nevertheless told me that "this is a family house, no one would stay without a meal" and at around 22h20 we came down, a table was prepared for us by the entrance of the hotel, underneath the stars. With the help of our hosts on the menu, we decided for 1 big salad (starter), 2 baked young lamb (shoulder and leg), 4 beers and all this cost 31 Euros (it seemed very reasonable to us given the quality and type of food presented).

Breakfast had a variety that was enough to us, with some local products.
Parking is about 30 mt distance, there are some stairs until the hotel entrance. However, one can bring the car near the entrance to load/unload.

The "castillo" has no elevator so people must take this into account when booking.
From the moment that we arrived we felt at home and were treated like family, but the hosts never imposed their presence. Thank you "Castillo de Ateca"

Great night in Atega which is about 100 kms south from Zaragoza. We could see our hotel from the motorway and were immediately impressed, then we were made very welcome on our arrival by our host and sat in the courtyard for a well deserved cold beer after a day’s driving. Out and about through the narrow streets was fantastic with lots of photo opportunities. In the evening a table for two on the front area of the castle hotel overlooking the village breathtaking, good food great location and the ambiance made for a very nice Hotel for a stop over plus.

This hotel is half way between Madrid and Zaragoza and is remarkable in many ways. We stayed there for 2 night, driving from Madrid Barajas Airport. The room was small but fine for us. Adolf the owner was very welcoming and took us and a Spanish couple for a visit to the Medieval Church a short distance away on the Sunday morning we were leaving. It was great, and Adolf explained all in simple Spanish which we were able to understand. He understands English but replies in Spanish. The hotel is a good base to explore the region. We spent one day exploring Zaragoza and another exploring on Adolf advise the wonderful Monasterio De Piedra just a short distance away. Here you see wonderful waterfalls and an opportunity to experience falconry and enjoy a guided tour of the Monastery. There is a Cadbury factory in Ateca, and a local call centre which employs about 150 people. The regional food( try the T bone steak). and the wine is very good and very reasonably priced with large generous portions. The wine from the area Adolf is +++ and we bought 6 bottles from the local supermarket to take home with us on his advice. We should have booked half board which would have been a lot cheaper.. We would certainly stay there again. Gracias Adolf.
