I was in Airlie Beach for a few days' break. It being August, I didn't book ahead. This proved to be a bad idea: a big sailing event meant that most accommodation was booked out. Trip Advisor helped me find the Motor Lodge - and it had good reviews. For the most part the reviews were fair - I'd recommend the place, though I had a few issues.
The welcome was warm and friendly. I was offered a discounted price compared to the standard rate for the room - but on mentioning having seen the room available via the internet, the manager admitted that the rate wasn't such a big discount on the internet price. Plenty of advice was on offer for making the most of my time in Airlie Beach.
My room was fairly small - but adequate for my needs. It was basically well-equipped. It was fairly dark, having just the screen door as its light source. The screen door/entrance included a deck/balcony, which was nice enough though it did not offer any views. I think the balconies of some of the other rooms do offer views. The place was clean and well-maintained, with all the amenities you'd expect of a motel room. It was fine for three days on my own, at least - I think a week with a family, say, would be stretching it.
The place offers free WiFi, but it must be said that...I was in Airlie Beach for a few days' break. It being August, I didn't book ahead. The place offers free WiFi, but it must be said that it's fairly limited, both in where you can reach it within the property, and the connection speed available.
The location is pretty good - you can walk to the main street in Airlie Beach in a couple of minutes, and be on the beach/lagoon a couple of minutes after that. This walk is down (and returning, up) a reasonably steep hill, but nothing too challenging really. Driving, it's also easy to come and go.
Overall, I suppose you get what you pay for: the Motor Lodge was not expensive, and represented good value for money.More
