We liked everything. The location of the hotel is the biggest advantage. The room was recently renovated, clean and well equipped. Staff courteous and responsive. One day it rained and the hotel saved us loaning us an umbrella. Tasty breakfast. The only minuses were poor Wi-Fi signal (room 315) and high prices for drinks in the mini bar in the room.

Room tip: Poor Wi-Fi signal in room 315.

I had a wonderful time staying at Hotel Capitol during my vacation time in Bucharest (Aug/Sep 2014). It is conveniently located very close to the University, Old city area, 10 minutes walk to the Parliament House. It is right at the city-center and just 2 minutes walk to the Metro, just 2 minutes walk to the old-city restaurants/bars area.

The Hotel staff are just wonderful, speak good English and very friendly. The manager was very helpful especially with me being new to their country. Among the reception staff, I especially would mention Liviu Gabriel, Adriana & Larisa as great folks who were very hospitable and made my stay a pleasant one! They will even book you a taxi for pick-up right at the front of the hotel!

The rooms are pretty clean, well maintained and the cleaning staff speak English too which makes it easy. I loved the soap dispensers at the hand-wash and right inside the bath tub!

One thing I would watch out for are the guys who walk around the hotel's vicinity trying to sell you 'exotic services'. Please be on the look out for them especially if you are a virtuous person.

Overall, I would strongly recommend this hotel as it is a great place for a competitive price and I will certainly go back to stay at this hotel the next time I visit Bucharest.

Room tip: Rooms with the view to the Military Center building have a nice balcony.

This hotel is right in the centre of the city, an ideal place from which to explore this interesting capital. They are making great strides to upgrade all the rooms, many of which are already done. The future plans will make this a very desirable place to stay when visiting Bucharest. Our stay was very comfortable, in a good size room. We arrived late, due to flight times, and were greeted with a 'cold platter' in our room in case we were hungry which was a nice touch. In the morning we were treated to what we would describe as a 'full English' breakfast which was a great way to start the day. We'd love to come back again and see the plans fulfilled.

Room tip: Because the hotel is a 'Listed Building' they cannot alter the rooms. This leaves you with a rather small bathroom. No problem but it might feel strange after finding such a good size bedroom. Everything is there, basin, toilet and walk-in shower.

We stayed at the Capitol hotel for 2 nights at the end of August. The hotel is centrally situated and very close to many attractions. Although the building is old, the hotel was renovated and the room was newly furnished and very clean. The bathroom was also spotless. The A/C worked very well. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The only problem was the TV set which was hardly working but it didn't bother us as we didn't have time to watch anyway. The hotel had a special offer for lunch. A free choice for about 5 Euro (it was like home-made food and really tasty). We will certainly stay there again when we visit Bucharest.

Room tip: We stayed on the fourth floor.
