Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor first opened its doors in 1932, but the legend lives on today, lovingly restored to its glorious splendour. The hotel is rich in Cambodian history and full of original treasures, right down to the original working wood cage elevator in the lobby. With the privilege of over 15 acres of beautifully landscaped French gardens, the hotel is a peaceful oasis to which one can retreat to after exploring the temples of Angkor, only 10 minutes away. Gourmets will delight in a variety of dining options, including the popular Raffles Afternoon Tea and the Apsara Terrace, Siem Reap’s best cultural dance performance and dinner in the poolside gardens.

A colonial hotel for the 2020’s! We were upgraded to a suite and had excellent service from the very attentive staff. If you like an old world charm but in the 21st century then this is the place. Great history as the first hotel in Siam Reap, 1930, built by the French.

Hotel's Favourite
We have been very fortunate to have been able to travel all around the world and Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor is possible the best hotel at which we have stayed. The grounds are stunning, the pool is devine, the rooms are spacious and elegant and the restaurants unsurpassed. But behind it all, it’s the staff and people of Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor that really make the place special. There is no task too small or too large that they will not undertake to make your stay special. Everyone is friendly, attentive, professional and happy….just the kind of atmosphere that one wants on a vacation. Definitely this will be the only hotel that at which we will stay when we return to Siem Reap.

Nice breakfast and lunch, kind and attentive staff. Easy and convenient location. However our room (lowest category room) was sub-par. Very loud air conditioning (though very effective), but when you turn off the A/C you can hear everything outside the room. For example noisy animals at night, every person walking in the hall, doors closing, etc. And the shower door doesn't close all the way. And there are no drawers to unpack your clothes. No furniture on the balcony. Not at all a 5 star experience. The hotel was at 100% capacity so we didn't bother complaining or asking to change rooms.

Whilst we are glad the service of the team is appreciated, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your stay. We note your observations on our guest room shower and storage space. On the positive note, the hotel is in the midst of balcony furniture set procurement. We didn’t stay at the hotel but we did visit for a private market tour + cooking class with the hotel’s sous chef and pastry chef - it was an absolutely phenomenal experience!! Chef was knowledgeable, personable, and helped us get to know Khmer cuisine from the ground up. Each dish we cooked was better than the next - we’re so excited to take the recipes back home to cook for our family! The service and attentiveness of all of the Raffles staff was extraordinary. I highly recommend this to any traveler coming through Siam Riep!

I was really looking forward to staying at this hotel, however I found I was disappointed. The staff are amazing, friendly and helpful.as they can be. The lobby and atmosphere, great. What was not great? We were in a Heritage room Twin, third floor, about four doors down from the elevator facing the park. The park is very noisy and the room is not soundproof, so too the noise from the lobby and stairwell, it echos of all the beautiful tile and marble. In the room there was one luggage rack and one small wardrobe, half of which had the safe. We ended up with our suitcases open on the floor. There was no ironing board or iron, $7 USD for a shirt to be pressed. Mini bar prices, $5USD for a small can of coke that cost 75c at the local shop. The bathroom is badly designed. A HUGE shower, that only has shower heads up one end, no towel rails or hooks, very limited counter space and a toilet that faced the door. We were one of the few, they stopped people from coming in, to be able to use the elephant bar, where we could get our free welcome cocktail or mocktail. They handed us a menu, no mention that there is only one drink you can have that is free. I ordered a femme fatale, Raffels signature drink. It was very small and took 20 min to arrive. Then when we were to leave, I got charged $30USD plus tax for about 100ml of drink. At breakfast they ran out of seating and the queue for eggs went right round the food service area, limiting access for people who chose not to have eggs. We stayed three days, but did not use the pool, because, again, there was very little seating, and all of it was taken. On the whole, a big let down.

This was our second Raffles to visit while we were on our Southeast Asia tour. We had gone to the one in Phenom Penh first and thought we would do a Happy Hour here as well. The drinks were amazing, the bar is as beautiful and the Happu hour food is delicious! Unfortunately, the bar waitress was very unpleasant. There was no one in the bar when we arrived. When we tried to sit down she told us we couldn't sit there, then we picked another place and that was reserved. We finally landed in a cozy corner across from the bar and no one else came in while we were there. She was rude and the reason the review is 3 stars instead of 5. She's a grump elderly lady!

My wife and I spent two nights at Raffles Siem Reap at the end of January 2024. It’s a decent hotel with a few issues. The hotel is very nice looking, and the staff was excellent. Our room was of adequate size but the shower was very small. There were the usual amenities in the room, including a coffee maker, which we appreciate. The Internet access was reasonably fast. The problem with the room was that there were several maintenance issues that needed to be addressed. Two that come to mind were that the switch for the light by the bed was supposed to be a dimmer but would only work as an off/on. Another problem was that the faucet in the bathroom could not be completely shut off – it ran slowly all the time, no matter how hard I tried to shut it off. Guest usually don’t report minor maintenance issues. Raffles should have employees stay in a room with the requirement that they report all maintenance issues. My other complaint is the physical keys for the room. They are old time metal keys attached to a heavy fob. And you only get one key per room, even though there are two people in the room. Almost all hotels have gone to card key access for the following reasons. 1. You must turn your key in to the front desk when departing the hotel and pick up your key when returning. If the desk clerk is busy helping someone else, you stand there waiting. I’d much rather have a card key and go directly to my room. 2. Most hotels go to great lengths to not announce the room number to protect their guest. When picking up your key, you have to announce your room number which can be overheard by anyone nearby. This is especially important for women traveling alone. 3. The key and fob are heavy so when you’re out of your room, but still in the hotel, you have this weight in your pocket. 4. They only give you one key. My wife and I went to an event in the hotel, but I left early. I took the key and went to my room. When my wife came to the room, she did not have a key and had to knock. 5. From the hotel point of view, occasionally a guest will leave with a key, usually by accident. When that happens, the hotel will have to have a new key made. For security reasons, they should also change the lock on the door because the key for the door is out in the wild. That’s expensive so I doubt if they do that. 6. A key card system allows the hotel to track employees who go into your room. If a guest complains that something is missing, the hotel can tell if anyone entered the room while the guest was out. With a physical key, that’s impossible. There’s just no reason for a modern hotel to have such an antiquated key system. I’m sure Raffles can afford to put in a key card system, and I highly recommend they do so. Other than these issues: (1) very small shower, (2) maintenance issues in the room, and (3) the stupid physical key, the hotel was nice and the staff was excellent.
