Just got home from 9 days of an extended family extended break. We had all 4 bures, in which we scattered three generations of a growing clan (two grandparents, three infants 5, 3 and 6 months, four mums and dads and one long-suffering uncle).

I have read the other reviews on this site and - superlative laden as they are - they do indeed do this remarkable place justice.

Everyone seems to comment upon the setting, and the sunset, and the bures, and the pool, and the food, and of course Jim & Robin. These are all truly great. And worth the trip to Taveuni alone (by the way if you haven't been there Taveuni is a terrific spot).

If there is one more thing I could add it is the other staff who help the Kellys run this joint which also ensure Nakia's excellence.Partciularly Madhu and Numai and Essita and of course Ravi and Ben.

We were so sad to leave and cannot wait to come back soon. Hopefully we will be able to convince friends and relatives to visit so that we can live vicariously.

This was our third trip to Taveuni in the past 5 years and we were lucky enough to find Nakia Resort and Dive on the internet. Each time we have been to Taveuni, we spent the first week in a less expensive resort and the second week at an expensive place. After a lot of research and a few emails to Nakia, we decided to spend the entire two weeks with them and it was one of the best decisions we could have made.

Upon arriving at Nakia, we were greeted with cold refreshing towels and fresh fruit juice. We were given a tour of the resort and shown to our cottage or bure. The location of the resort is truly amazing and the grounds are very impressive. The resort is situated on a 10 acre bluff with incredible views of the ocean. The bures were beautiful, spacious and very comfortable. They have ceiling fans, a refrigerator, big showers, hot water and 24 hour a day power. Some of these features are very rare on Taveuni.

The resort has one of the nicest fresh water swimming pools we have seen on Taveuni. They keep the pool very clean and there is plenty of room to relax.

Nakia also has a very nice restaurant with really great food. Every meal was amazing with fresh organic vegetables grown at Nakia. We had everything from fresh fish and steak sandwiches to handmade pizza .We also highly recommend the desserts.

Our hosts were very accommodating and they really went out of their way to make our vacation special. We felt like we were staying at a 5 star resort because of all the personal attention we got from the owners and their staff. We were very happy to find Nakai and we can not wait to back next year. Thanks again for the incredible trip and we will see you next year.

It's been 6 weeks since I've returned from my vacation at Nakia Resort on Taveuni Island, Fiji, and still, everyday, I am reminded of something special about this trip. I wonder if every guest was greeted so warmly by the hosts, Robin and Jim Kelly, at the little airport near by. I wonder who is using MY hammock and watching for cruise ships, cargo vessels, or dolphins to pass by. Is someone sitting at MY special table and overlooking the beautiful pool, grounds, and the Somosomo Strait? And what delicious fresh fruits and vegetables are arriving from the farm for my meals? And most importantly, why am I sitting at work when it's 3p.m. and I should be in the pool relaxing and laughing with friends?

One of the most special aspects of the Nakia Resort is that it uses solar, wind and water energy to power almost all of its operation. The Kellys have made a conscious effort to educate other residents of Taveuni how to conserve the beauty and natural treasures of the island.

I am grateful for my memories, and look forward to returning to experience more. I would highly recommend Nakia Resort to anyone who appreciates good food, beautiful, peaceful surroundings and friendly owners and staff. Enjoy.

We stayed for 7 days at Nakia for our honeymoon. From the moment we arrived, the owners Robin and Jim Kelly made us instantly very comfortable. They welcomed us with delicious homemade passionfruit juices.

Because Nakia is built on top of a bluff, the view is absolutely stunning. From our bure, we can see the distant islands, the ocean, and the sunset. In the morning, the view was so beautiful, that it was like being on another planet.

The owners and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Robin and Jim took very good care of us, offering great suggestions and making all the arrangements for our activitives. Robin and Jim gave us personalized service that would have never been possible in a hotel.

The food is very delicious because everything was homemade. Nakia has its own organic farm with vegetables and tropical fruit trees. Some of the delicious dishes we had were chicken in coconut cream, pasta in pesto sauce, chicken curry, passionfruit cake, chocolate cake etc. Nakia would make us whatever we wanted. We ate at a couple of places in Traveuni but the food at Nakia was much better.

For the eco minded, Nakia generates its own power from renewable sources. The resort has its own filtration system for drinking water.

We were very sad to live. The staff sang us a song and gave us leis. We definitely recommend this place for the beauty of its setting, the food, the congenial host and staff.

Nakia Resort & Dive is one of the most beautiful places on the face of the earth enhanced by the delightful staff and congenial hosts, Robin abd Jim Kelly. I thought I was going to cry when it was time to leave. I had become very attached to laying in the hammock, watching the sun set amidst puffy clouds, palm trees, ocean waves and other islands in the distance.
One can find lovely sunsets on almost any tropical island, but I don't think there is any other resort where the owners have given as much thought to being kind to the earth. I was especially impressed with the use of wind, solar and hydro power to avoid the use of gasoline generators. Oh yes, they even grow all of their own organic fruits and vegetables right on the property. I had fresh, organic papaya and passion fruit every morning. I was in heaven!
