We stayed here for just one night (we wanted to stay two nights, but it was fully booked). The bungalow was very spacious and had a balcony. Our bungalow was located right in front of the pool, which was nice and refreshing! The food was good and cheap and the staff was very friendly. (Most of them did not speak English very good, but even though they tried really hard to understand us.
The hotel is not located in the heart of Ubud, but you can still walk everywhere. The bathroom was not great and could use a renovation. But for us this was fine.

An excellent place to go on a budget for independent travellers. Upstairs room with fantastic balcony overlooking vegetation and has a nice breeze. Mosquito net over bed was perfect. Bathrooms are average but hey, at those prices who really cares? The garden has a cooling effect on the whole property too and the pool looked amazing although I didn't get to use it! Staff were nice on check in, didn't see much of them after that. Wifi worked well.
I will return for sure.

Room tip: Upstairs has great breeze

We enjoyed our stay at the Gunung Merta Bungalows very much. It is peaceful and the view from our terrace was amazing! The host and his family are very friendly. The breakfast is delicious! Our children had the chance to interact with the family, and to participate in cooking and preparation of offering baskets. Sanitair is Ok, but could be renowed in the future.

The 'bungalows' are set amid a beautiful garden hidden back from the street. Our room was a good size, with balcony looking out back into tropical jungle. All of the staff were pleasant, the pool was lovely and very clean and the breakfast excellent. The bathrooms could be nicer but it was clean enough and had toiletries.

Having drinking water and fruit in the room was a nice touch but it was disappointing that these were not replenished, we were given more bottled water but had to ask each day for it... It would make sense to simply replace it in the fridge when the room is cleaned, this would be more useful than changing the towels each day which was simply not necessary.

Otherwise though we really enjoyed out 4 days there, a very relaxing place and the best-value place we have stayed during a 10-month tour of Asia in terms of cleanliness, facilities, service and the quality of breakfast.

We stayed for 3 nights. Arranged airport pick up as our flight arrived in the evening. Also opted to have them drop us back at airport although they were more expensive compared to others.

Pros: beautifully positioned rooms in the back of the property with quaint garden surrounds.

Close to Main Street in Ubud. Walking distance about 10-15 mins.

Fantastic breakfast that is included. You can try a different dish even if you stayed for a week!

Great restaurant recommendations by owner to places for traditional local food. They also helped arrange for a motorbike rental which is useful as you can collect and drop off the bike at hotel.

Cons: rooms, although good size are dated and very dusty. There were cobwebs in the frame of the bed. Bathroom/toilet needs refurbishment.
