From Dirty Bed Linen. To poorly maintained Rooms and unfriendly staff.

Hotel is situated in the middle of town..so the noise levels are excessive.

Very little has been done to block out the noise. The hotel does not look anything like the advertisement.

Room tip: Replace your towels ( all flaired and very very worn ) and have someone check up on House Keeping. Replace the Reception chair with a hole in it. Its a bad reflection on your hotel as its the first thing you see. Educate your Security in the parking on where hotel guests can park. They don't really care. If the guest has luggage....send a porter to assist. I asked and a woman can with who looks like she doubles in house keeping. She was very unhappy to assist me. The hotel manager ( Kevin ). Has alot of excuses and cannot give a straight answer. I cancelled going to breakfast as it was a shocker and asked that it be credited to my account. Has said he would arrange and get back to me....and nothing! The hotel appears to be running with no leadership and no management.

We stayed two nights. Safe parking garage for around R40 per night extra. Walked to Long Street and surrounds. Very interesting area. Clean studio, crisp linen, great shower, fluffy towels. A bit noisy if you stay on the street side, but not too bothered as one would expect that staying in a city. New kitchen and appliances (microwave, kettle, toaster, bar fridges, no cooker), great for picnic type meals, just need to add a small carving knife and scissors. Friendly service, had a bit of trouble to get onto the WiFi, but was assisted by reception immediately (buy vouchers). Will stay again anytime! Good value for money!

We stayed a total of 6 nights at the Adderley during our stay in South Africa. It's a great hotel with surprisingly up-dated, modern decor. We paid for an upgraded room, but not the highest priced suits. All three rooms we stayed in were very clean, comfortable and very large! The location is ideal for exploring downtown. [However, downtown Cape Town isn't large and many of the downtown hotels would be acceptable in terms of location.] The staff at the Adderley was friendly and helpful. Upon arriving for the second leg of our stay, our bed was not comfortable. Because no other room was available, the hotel staff switched out the bed immediately. Impressive! Our only complaint would be the restaurant. It may have been nice, but the prices were very high. There are many excellent, but cheaper, dining options near-by. The hotel is within walking distance of the main train station. Also, it is right next to Government Park and the Slave Museum.

Room tip: The upgraded rooms are absolutely worth the money...some of them, particularly those on the top floors, are AWESOME. Glassed-in bathrooms (maybe not best for families), great views and large private balcony's. We noticed differences in the three rooms we stayed in, but all of them were a fantastic deal for the price we paid.

We found this hotel from an outstanding special on Booking.com and it is walking distance from all that is hip and happening.
When we got to the hotel the staff gave us a free upgrade to one of their luxury rooms. We stayed on the third floor in room number 2. The room was nicely decorated, clean and spacious with a massive bath to relax in. Really great!!!
The hotel is on a main road, so I do think that it can get a bit noisy in the week. As we were there on a weekend the road were quiet and the noise from the street minimal.
Some other problems that I read on this site about the hotel were that some people had issues with parking, but really there is no issue if you just follow instructions. To locate the hotel’s parking garage you must drive to the back of the hotel and enter the parking garage. Drive up to Level F and park in a ‘Adderley Hotel’ parking bay. From there you just take to lift down to reception. The hotel does charge a fee of R45 per day for parking, but it is definitely worth it.
The hotel staff were super friendly, professional and they really when out of their way to be helpful. We would have liked staying longer and we will definitely return.

Room tip: Choose a luxury room

We enjoyed our anniversary at the hotel and to our surprise, were upgraded to a luxury suite. Very friendly staff, clean rooms and close to a variety of restaurants, art galleries, museums and the company gardens. The only negative is that we were on the 2nd floor, which can be quite noisy at night with the main road just outside the windows. Other than that, the perfect place for a romantic getaway.

Room tip: Higher floors have less road noise.
