Phenomenal spot. Great staff. The hotel is 30 years old and was totally redecorated 10 years ago...yet I would have thought 2-3 years ago. We checked in at 10 p.m. yet were treated as if we had checked in at 10 a.m. The night crew was fantastic and funny. The room was beautifully decorated and equipped with a microwave and little refrigerator, hidden inside a beautiful cabinet below a flat screen TV. Of course all the amenities were there also. Every day 2 new bottles of water waited for you in your room. At 5 p.m. freshly baked cookies of all flavors were brought out for guests to enjoy. Continental breakfast each morning that included eggs, fresh fruit (whole and cut up), waffles, yogurts, bagels, toast, all types of cereals ( cold and hot), juices, coffee, tea….I took back a banana, orange, apple and yogurt each day back to my room so I had a snack later in the evening. A hostess was always on duty to keep the food well stocked and fresh.
Even the HVAC unit was easily controlled. Just set it to your preference and it stayed there. Two curtains on the window…a sheer and a darkening curtain to help you sleep. The bathroom was amazing. The shower doors were spotless and I know at my home…that is hard to maintain. Even after my 3 day stay, with no cleaning crew in my room between the days…at my preference, the doors were spotless. I went to the manager and asked the name of the cleaner….I was so impressed. In fact, it was Spic and Span (industrial concentrate) and the manager told me they use on all fixtures. We purchased some on E-Bay, mixed it and it has done wonders on my shower doors at home after just one use.
Any questions I posed to an employee at the desk, were answered promptly and I was given a map of the area with restaurants, shopping centers, etc. The hotel has 2 vans and welcomes taking guests where needed…airport, work site, CVS, etc. with notice. I needed a cab to take me to the airport from my worksite and again….very helpful…gave me the contact information and it was arranged.
I enjoy walking each day and this was the perfect place. There is a park nearby and a boat marina behind the hotel. Not only was I able to do my walking each day, it was a pleasure to do so….Some of the rooms even have balconies that overlook the water or on ground level so you could sit outside of your room and ready or enjoy the weather. I made friends with a feral cat family while I was there and saw them each day on my walk, leaving them food to enjoy. Others around me were launching their boats, walking their dogs in the dog park, etc.
Next door to the hotel is a restaurant called Horatio’s and we enjoyed a 10% discount when we went for dinner. Prices are average and the quality of the above average. Happy Hour items were large enough to be the meal. The salads were made of all fresh ingredients…so even my friend who is vegetarian had an excellent meal. They provide room service to the hotel guests. We went exploring and ate at different places each night….within walking distance.
The price was surprisingly reasonable. We have paid this same amount for motels that were barely passible. I highly recommend the Marina Inn.
