Just back after a two week stay at the HIYC and wish I was still there ! This is a small development overlooking the inter coastal waterway and not more than 200m to the beach. The manageress, Jocelyn is very nice and our apartment with a private balcony had every convenience of home. We BBQ'd most evenings ( there are two, one on the lower sun deck and one on the upper sun deck ) and sipped our wine watching the amazing boats go by.
The day after our arrival we had breakfast at The Deck and then got a taxi to Winn Dixie to do our shop, there is also a Publix supermarket on Sunrise which is very good but not as big as Winn Dixie and more expensive. There is a good CVS at Beach Place which is about a 20min walk from the HIYC which has good alcohol supplies, limited foodstuffs but then again it is pharmacy ! We ate out one night at The Parrot Bar which was fun ( their wings are delicious ) but mostly prepared our own lunches and dinners in our apartment/on the BBQ.
If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place for you; if you want a quiet apartment with fantastic views of the Waterway which has all the conveniences of home, this place cannot be beaten. The pool is heated and the gardens are well maintained, there is also a kinda resident cat who visits in the evenings and who is adorable ! A taxi from Fort Lauderdale airport is $ 25 approx. A car would make the place more convenient but we did not hire one and walked to most places except the supermarket. The Galleria Mall is a 25min walk or a $ 10 taxi ride.
The only thing that I feel could be improved would be the replacement of the sun loungers for more modern and comfortable ones
