We really loved this place! We needed some time together but away from everything else from our day-to-day life. I don't relax easily but can honestly say that I came away feeling totally rejuvenated for the first time in years even though we were only able to stay a couple of nights!!
We don't have any complaints. We stayed in the suite and enjoyed the decor, spaciousness, beautiful colors and attention to the tiniest detail, the gourmet coffee machine, YUMMY private breakfasts (a mixed-blessing, though, as the other guests seemed to be having entirely too much fun sharing their breakfasts downstairs), comfort in every way, privacy, beautiful views (deer in the yard the first night), etc.
After realizing how much of the place the owners built themselves, we appreciated it even more! My husband is a builder so he understood the work that went into it. Since he's working on a larger-scale log hunting/event lodge in ND and had the plans along (some work just HAD to continue a bit), it was fun to show Lura and get her feedback and wisdom from their experiences in planning and building such a similar project.
We kind of expected that our cell phones would have very spotty service and we were right! The only place they worked was in town. The internet access was very helpful, though. For some reason it didn't work the first night but then kicked in. If we...We really loved this place! We needed some time together but away from everything else from our day-to-day life. For some reason it didn't work the first night but then kicked in. If we didn't bring some work along and have a high-school son in Washington, D.C. on a class trip, I would've enjoyed not even trying to communicate! It worked, though. We combined phone communication with our trip to town to eat at the Lemon Wolf Cafe as recommended by Lura. We ended up waiting on a comfortable rustic couch for about 15 minutes -- surrounded by at least 5 chainsaw-carved wooden bears!!! The food was worth the minor wait, though. Everyone else obviously wanted to eat there, too.
We HIGHLY recommend this place and would very much enjoy staying again if we have the opportunity!More
