We were walking down a main street in seminyak and thought we would try the Ananda restaurant and were pleasantly suprised. The staff were friendly and attentive. The selection of food was certainlt sufficient and reasonably priced. The service was ok and could improve. The food was delicious however and would certainly reccomend.

Well for a location smack in the middle of ‘Eat Street’ Laksmana, you couldn’t be more central in Seminyak. It’s just opposite Ultimo and Ginger Moon. With all the expensive villas in this area, Ananda is a bargain at around $50AUD per night. For this amount we got a ‘deluxe’ villa – complete with basic kitchen, table and chairs, extra lounge area and a bathroom you could do more than swing a cat in – it had a full size corner bath, bidet, wardrobe area – it was huge! There were lovely gardens and the place has that old ‘Balinese’ feel. The bed and bathrooms were cleaned each day and the bed was comfy for me. The air con worked well. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Now the negatives (but when you’re paying this low, you can live with this): The breakfast was pretty basic and the coffee really not good. Ifyou want something nicer, plenty on the street (try Grocer & Grind). We didn’t like the pool because the water was too chlorinated and made us smell. The Wi-Fi was intermittent (but good in the lobby). The buildings are old and dated and need maintenance; I think this was the first hotel in Laksmana Street (apart from the Oberoi). However, for a budget option, this was perfect.

The greatest appeal of Ananda Resort is its location: within walking distance from Seminyak beach, Seminyak square, motorbike/car retals, minimarts, Bali clinic, great warungs, cafes, pubs, spas etc... Bintang Supermarket is relatively close by (1.2km away). Ananda is conveniently located for whatever activity you intend to explore in Seminyak. It's also near Sunset Road - direct high way to airport and South Kuta (in case you want to explore Uluwatu, Dreamland beach, Jimbawan).

Second best thing about Ananda is its serenity despite its location on a very busy street. Bungalows are spacious, secluded, and quiet. The landscaping really went very well with the traditional Balinese setting of the place. Facilities include a nice clean pool, a bar, a rarely-used internet room, and a restaurant (try Indonesian breakfast). I think they have a spa too but didn't have a chance to check out.

The staff is also a big plus of this place: friendly and very attentive. Nita is very quick to reply to our emails, even helped us arrange for pick-up and restaurant booking before we arrive. The receptionists are super helpful and approachable guides.

Room tip: Our room was near the restaurant, and resort entrance. It was surprisingly quiet and couldn't have been more convenient for us. But if you prefer to be near the pool, request for that. We stayed on the ground floor, some other guests were staying in the unit above so we sometimes hear his foot steps up the staircase. It seems the room upstairs is not as accessible. Another thing, if you want you can request for a room with a bath tub.

We travelled for a wedding from Ireland and found this hotel suited us. Friendly staff met us at reception and brought us to Our two rooms 241 & 242. Our teenage daughter had room upstairs. Both had double beds and big bathrooms. Rooms cleaned and beds changed every day. Pool was right outside our door. Hotel needs a facelift but value for money. Breakfast was good. Only half hour from airport. Lot's of restaurant's and shop's on busy main street. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Room tip: We were in room 241 and 242. Beside pool and far enough inside the resort to not hear any street noise.
