Stayed here this wkend on a trip to Durham with my daughter. I expected a typical 2-star but this was much nicer. There is a large covered entry with nice benches for a smoke. Most of the rooms are inside entry (elevator worked well), altho it looked like some had outdoor entries. Ours was 3rd floor, very clean and safe. The room looked like it was recently renovated, two very nice queen beds with 4 pillows each, large whirpool tub in bathroom. Nice flat-screen TV. Had internet (I think wifi too) but I didn't bring my laptop so can't comment. Decent free breakfast (cereal, waffle maker, pastries, coffee, juice). Last trip to Durham my husband and I splurged and stayed at the Siena in Chapel Hill ($180/night) and really for $55* this Comfort Inn wasn't a big let-down after that. Sure, the Siena had real marble, plusher towels, gorgeous lobby, etc., but for the price difference this was a great deal.
*I got this price with a corporate discount, but the AAA $66 would be reasonable for this room.

Recently I had an extremely unpleasant stay at the hotel. After previous satisfactory visits to other Comfort Inn hotels we did not expect what we received especially considering the rate of $160/night. Among the hotels' deficiencies were; inadequate breakfast (not even coffee at 8:30am), poor service (unwelcoming and unhelpful), and a room which was not thoroughly cleaned. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I just spent a whole week in this motel, traveling on business. The places looks wonderful from the outside, but the inside is not as great. The first thing I noticed was the door to the room--it had to be jiggled and played with to gain entry. I was going to switch rooms, but I noticed the couple next door had the same problem. The toilet in the room whistled. I had to take the top off the toilet and shake the arm and the noise would stop. It was really loud. The light bulb at the desk burned out. I left a note, with the bulb beside it. It took 3 days to get it replaced. The free breakfast was nice, but not always set up on time. I felt the area was unsafe. Many times I looked out the window and there were cars parked with people sitting in them. There was a lot of noise outside the building. At one point I had a noisy neighbor for the night. I asked the front desk if the area was bad, and she said no. But I found it odd, twice when I went down to the lobby around 6 to 7 AM, the doors were locked. It seemed odd to me that they would lock their doors when they said the area was safe. The room was clean, but everything was a little beat up. The lamp shades would not stay straight.

This Comfort Inn was located off I-40 at the Apex/Durham exit. The television did not work and the room was hot. The area around this property was terrible and I never felt safe when I left to go anywhere. The room was huge and the bed was comfortable but I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
