we stayed in the hemingway suite which has a giant garden jacuzzi tub that you can look out over the street in, thanks to the room's 3 sets of french doors. lovely sized private balcony overlooking the street and if someone would just trim the trees on the other side of the road you could see the cape fear river. everything i touched was soft and comfortable and we werent disturbed by anything at all. we just needed a night away to relax and reconnect and ive been thinking about that place ever since. highly highly recommend. being in the middle of downtown, there are so many cool shops and restaurants.

Room tip: only stayed in the hemingway suite, but im sure theyre all wonderful

This is a really nice B & B. Very friendly owners, comfortable and clean rooms, excellent breakfast and superb location. Large parking area off the street in front of the hotel.
If you need a place to stay in Wilmington that is very close to the riverfront with shops restaurants etc etc, this is it.

My husband and I stayed in the Kipling room at the Front Street Inn in Wilmington during a trip to NC. Our hosts, Richard and Polly ( and Clyde), were warm and pleasant, our room quiet and comfortable, and the breakfasts delish. The inn is walking distance to downtown and close to all the beautiful NC beaches. Wish we could have stayed longer than 3 days.

The inn is located only 1 short block from the waterfront on the south end of the river walk. There are nice restaurants and shops nearby on Water street and Front St. The management were very friendly and accommodated us with our little dog. They have one suite that they will allow a small dog called the Traverna. The parking is right outside the room. Everything is tastefully decorated. The bathroom and shower were one of the best I've ever had. The bed, however, was not very comfortable and that is the only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. Also we were pleased that the area is very dog friendly and some of the restaurants allow dogs on the patio areas.

Room tip: Traverna is a great room especially if you need a place to bring your small dog. Bring your own pillow.

When you can combine a great location with warm hosts, real home cooked breakfasts and Inn Keeping family you want to call your own, you know you've found a great B&B.

One of the reasons we choose the Front Street Inn was because it offered a great location--walking distance from the historic district shops and river walk and no more than 30 minutes to every beach in the Wilmington area.
Other factors included that almost all guests were pleased with their rooms, unobtrusive yet intuitive service and amazing breakfasts.
I am here to tell you that everything positive that is said about the Front Street Inn is true. In five wonderful days we hit Wrightsville, Kure, Fort Fisher and Masonboro beaches, did the historic district (restaurants and shopping) every day.
Coming home from the beach to Georgia O'Keefe, luxuriating in the spa bath and walking to dinners everyday was made easy at Front Street.
My advice is don't miss a single breakfast and have a great time seeing all Wilmington has to offer...the Front Street Inn will think of all the little things that make a stay so comfortable.

PS Special thank you to Polly for packing us an assortment of your baking delights for our 6 AM PRE-breakfast exit. Meant the world to us!

Notes: Do go to Masonboro Island...catch a boat.taxi from the Blockade-Runner.
Do Go to Fish Bites and Caprice Bistro. Do go to Fort Fisher.
