We checked in at this Motel 6 late on a Saturday night, the billboard said it was $49.99, but upon check in it was $61.00 due to it being the weekend, I hate the up charge just because it's a weekend. Of course an event that brings in lots of people would warrant the higher price but this motel was maybe a third full.
My previous experience with Motel 6 has been sketchy, the first time I tried to check in off an interstate at 10pm (on a snowy night) the lobby was closed and when the intercom was finally answered the voice said they were full. There were 2 cars in the parking lot. I emailed the customer service link on their website and never heard back. But back to this event, I checked in, the property is nicely maintained, the room sparsely decorated, but very nice looking, and the room was filthy. The floor had leaves, like they were tracked in, there was paper remants from someone's fast food meal and all the corners had an inch of muck, like it's never cleaned. The all vinyl floor was too dirty to walk barefoot. That only tells me that if the floor wasn't cleaned, was the toilet?, shower or sink cleaned? Ok. So you get what you pay for, M-6 was competively priced, maybe a few $$ cheaper than close competition, but the big hotel chains neighboring M-6 have free wifi, M-6 charges for it. Competition also has a microwave, fridge and coffee makers in the rooms, and at least a continental breakfast, M-6 does not. So when everything is added up and compared I will be staying at the competition next time, where the beds are more comfortable, the towels a little more thirsty and I can keep my diet Coke cold in my room. It's just not worth the hassle, not to mention that feeling of getting slightly ripped off on the way out of town.
