We loved this place! It's goregously remodeling and clean. The beach was good snorkeling, lots of soft sand. The restaurant was fantastic! The sundries/deli shop was well stocked but supremely overpriced. Tracey, the concierge, was friendly and helpful. The cost of the activities, though supposedly discounted, is about average. The pool was clean and pretty. The shower was nice to wash off your feet before going inside.

We got room 808B. This was a "hotel room" rather than condo. It had 2 twin beds, a counter with coffee maker & tv, a tiny fridge, closet, 2 small bedside tables, and a regular bathroom with tub/shower. The room was a lot smaller than we anticipated but comfy and clean. It had a window unit air con and a ceiling fan. We did see a few tiny ants but they weren't a nuisance and didn't get into our snacks. The only gripe might be that one of the windows did not have glass, but had wooden slat type shutters. The noise factor was a problem for my friend but I am a heavy sleeper. This would pose a problem for light sleepers. I took the bed by the window but she could still hear everything outside. There are lots of birds chirping and even roosters crowing in the AM, not to mention traffic, lawn mowers, etc.

Also, I was thrilled that there was free WIFI in the room !!

My husband and I stayed at the Mana Kai in November of 2008 for 10 nights. I am just posting this now b/c I just began using trip advisor recently for vacation research and felt the Mana Kai deserved a review. This was our first trip to Hawaii and we were there in celebration of our 10 year anniversary. I came across this property by googling condos in the Kihei and Wailea areas of Maui. I have always wanted to stay in a resort that was right on a beach where we could hear the waves at night. This place was great for that!!! We could open the patio doors and keep the screens closed so we could hear the waves all night. Very relaxing!! The view from room 303 was awesome. Even though it was a lower floor I preferred it b/c we were closer to the ocean and it didn't get too windy as I have heard the higher floors do. At night they light tiki torches all around the property and it is so beautiful and romantic. The room was perfect size for a couple and we enjoyed having the kitchen to cook in. My favorite part of the condo is the balcony or lanai. I loved sitting out there in the mornings to enjoy the peaceful stillness and in the evenings to see the beautiful sunsets. It was fun to watch the local fishermen set up their poles and wait for the "catch of the day."
The beach is feet away and is awesome. We enjoyed our walks on the beach and the beautiful views it offered. Many people are up walking and running on the beach early in the morning. We would walk down the beach and then get on the walkway that led you past many nice resorts in Wailea. A very pretty walk with wonderful flowers and vegetation to enjoy along the way.
We ate at the restaraunt right on site a few times. One morning we enjoyed breakfast there and I had the BEST french toast ever!! They make it with Hawaiian sweet bread and it is delicious. We also had appetizers and drinks a few times during their happy hour time and they were also excellent. They offered a very nice variety of appetizers and they weren't cheap in terms of flavor at all.
The lobby is nice. We didn't use the pool as we preferred the beach. Our condo offered free use of their beach chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards which was a nice added bonus that we didn't have to buy them for the week. The property did have a nice convenience store on site that had pretty much anything you needed. Kihei offers larger shopping centers and grocery stores for all your needs. It didn;t have a fitness facility on site but who wants to do that when you can walk or run on a gorgeous beach or swim.
Bottom line is this place was awesome. Laundry units are on each floor but not in the condos from what I was told. Every room has an ocean view so you just decide on what floor you want to be on. We loved it and would return in a heartbeat. I think we would stay in the same unit again as I liked the view and didn't want it to be too windy that we couldn't enjoy the lanai as much.
I did see some kids at this property and I think it would be a nice place for families. You may need to book the extra efficiency room if you bring a family for the space. We went over Thanksgiving so maybe there were more families than normal b/c of the Holiday but we didn't hear a lot of noise at night or anything.
We enjoyed so much about Maui that I wouldn't be able to tell about them all but here are a few of our favorites:
**Feast at LeLe (awesome intimate Luau with fantastic food)
**Coffee and dessert at "Grandma's" in UpCountry Maui. The best mac bars on earth!!
**Shopping in Lahaina
**Sunrise on Haleakala
**Road to Hana (beautiful)
**Sunset cruise. Drinks were good but food was not. The best part of it was seeing whales.
**Secret Beach in Makena. A secluded little beach with a lot of personality. We also star gazed there one night and it was spectacular.

I hope this review was helpful in some way if you are looking to go to Maui. We would love to go back. I just returned from a trip to the Riviera Maya in Mexico and although they have a lot of nice all-inclusive's down there, it does not even compare to the beauty and elegance of Maui. Have fun!!!

Although we stayed in the hotel room, we had a wonderful time, and have reserved for next February, but in the condo. Get the condo, if you can. We found the location to be great, the beach to be great, the accessibility to restaurants and shopping to be great, and on and on.

My husband and I just returned from our 3rd trip to Maui. This trip was impromptu and I didn't do my research. We booked just the hotel unit which is the A unit part of a condo. The room is very small. It has one desk, bed, 2 chairs, 2 nightstands and bathroom. I expected a parking lot view but the room is much smaller than a usual hotel room. The parking lot was noisy. The room was clean but the bedding was paper thin. The beach was great but the room was not up to par. Disappointed!

There were many things that we enjoyed about staying at the Mana Kai Maui. One of the nicest things is its great location right on Keawakapu Beach. It was so nice to be able to go out any time of day and go for a walk along the beach without having to cross a busy road or drive to get there. Although it was built in the 70's it has been nicely renovated and our unit and the common areas were very nice. We had a fabulous view of the beach from our lanai including being able to watch humpback whales in the distance. Although we didn't need much assistance, the staff were very friendly and obliging. It was nice to have a general store right there. We enjoyed the sushi from Foodland (about a 10 minute drive north on South Kihei Road) on two occasions. We enjoyed the fellowship at Kihei Baptist Church on Sunday morning. There were three weddings on the beach while we were there. We are already looking forward to a return visit.
