The architecture is beautiful and very elegant. Service is courteous and equally elegant, the rooms are very comfortable and the view quite beautiful.
Location could not better, with everything at walking distance

Room tip: High floors have a wonderful view.

We stayed here for two nights in December and had a good stay. Lobby, our room and our bathroom were clean. Good location near shopping and eateries. Close to the trolley line as well. There are several other hotels near this one that are comparable in quality but more affordable. For a St. Regis, this hotel didn't seem very overly amazing. Furnishings were average, service was ok. We had a room with a view of a wall :( one other very important point is the noise. Be prepared to wake up to sirens several times during the night! This isn't the hotel's fault, just a product of the area.

My husband and I first started our San Francisco trip at the Hyatt in the Embarcadero area. After two days of a disappointing experience..we checked out and decided to splurge and stay at the St. Regis. I was glad we did. Location is very good, next door is the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The financial district and Union Square shopping are within walking distance. I really enjoyed the Westfield Center-they have the best Nordstrom's I have ever visited. But returning to the St. Regis...when my husband and I checked in we were kindly upgraded to a room with a better view. However, when we walked into the room I noticed it was very close to an elevator (hate that). I called the front desk and was told it would take a while for someone to come and bring us another key for a another room...so we went downstairs and were given a key to a more quiet room minus the "better view." Everything in the room was fine. Room was spacious, approximately 450 square feet, with a 13 inch LCD t.v in the bathroom, separate shower and big bathtub, CD/DVD player, minibar, and a large workspace. Only negative was the desk was scratched (would not think it worthy in a St. Regis)....but I digress. The hotel has 2 restaurants, a pool, and a bar. We ate breakfast at the Vitrine Restaurant. Food was delicious but quite expensive. We also went to the bar. I loved their contemporary fireplace, cocktails, and wine list. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at the St. Regis. Staff is very pleasant, efficient, and friendly.

Room tip: Choose a room in one of the higher floors as a fire station is nearby and the sound of sirens may annoy you. I was on the 14th floor so it was okay.

This St. Regis is amazing. I stayed here for two nights, because I took advantage of a stay 3 nights stay 1 night any Starwood property. There promotion worked it got me to stay at Starwood properties. The St. Regis SF is a top notched property. However, it is very expensive, but it is worth it if you can splurge. The rooms are very large, the room I had came with a Jacuzzi tub along with separate shower overlooking Union Square direction. The gym and spa is very nice too. I have no complaints. If you want to save some money, you can park in the Yerba Buena parking lot for $28. It's one block diagnol from St. Regis. I"m sure the valets park their cars there anyways. But again, if you can afford the St. Regis, what is another $40 bux.

Room tip: The St. Regis bar is one of the hot spots in SF during Thursdays. The W is another hot spot.
