The location of the Stay hotel is excellent, very close to Broadway excitement and a short walk to the east side of NYC. The lobby is beautiful and staff friendly. The WiFi area was really nice and the big massive fish tank at the entrance gives you that calming affect. Due to the 3 nightspots and the loud music, request to stay on the 6th floor and above if you want a little quiet. I accidently left a cell phone charger in my room. I called back, housekeeping said they found it, and said they will mail it back. This was approximately spring of last year (2011), and I haven't got nothing back. Called again late 2011, but no response. This caused me to rate the property with a "3" as oppose to "4".

Room tip: Always ask for free upgrade, and above the 5th floor to not hear the late night beats from the clubs. If you like the hotel, join their free hotel chain club.

I've just returned from my one week vacation in New York City, and a friend of mine told me about this hotel and that it looked nice. He had never stayed there himself, but I took the risk and booked my stay there.

The hotel is in the middle of everything, right by Times Square in New York. When we first arrived we walked into the modern lobby and it looked really nice. The receptionist helped us check in and off to our room we went. The room was a "Luxury King" room and had everything we needed for our stay. A large bed, a plasma TV on the wall, a safe to keep our passports and other documents - and a small bathroom. I was really happy with this room, and it was everything we needed for our vacation.

The staff at the hotel was helpfull, polite and service minded. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel!

Remember, the staff will tell you that it's not free WiFi on the rooms as it says on the booking. However, I managed to figure this out. When logging into the Wifi "Stay-Guest" you have to log in and phurcase access. Select the "free" alternative, and enter name and room number "0". We were not charged for any WiFi use when we checked out.

Room tip: The Luxury King rooms are perfect with a large bed and everything you need. The WiFi network on the hotel is free in the lobby, but the staff will tell you that it costs $9.99 pr. day for the WiFi access on the room even though it says on their website that the room has WiFi included. Log into the "Stay-Guest" WiFi and phurcase the free option. Enter your name and room number as "0". I wasn't charged a penny after a week of usage this way :-)

We booked three rooms at the STAY hotel New York for a 4 night break. The hotel is modern in the reception and bar areas, and is well put together. This hotel in 30 seconds walk from Times Square so the location is FANTASTIC!!

The rooms are very small. In our rooms we had a bed and a desk, but no were to put our two suit cases so they had to live on the floor, which for a 4 star hotel is disappointing. Dont stay here if you do not like small rooms.

We had paid for all three rooms before we arrived, and the cash had been taken from our bank. Once we arrived we were asked for the booking credit card. I did not have this as the card has been lost (i had the replacement). The hotel manager had very poor customer service and a very bad attitude, asked for the booking credit card for "security reasons", no other explanation was given despite asking. When we explained this had been lost they said that they could not give us our room keys untill they can have sight of the actual payment card. as we did not have this, they had to refund the card, and we had to pay $3000 on another credit card. This was very disappointing and what seems like a pointless act. This may concern other people as if we couldn't have paid on another credit card, we would have been rejected from the hotel and the rooms sold to other people. VERY POOR!

Good Location, Expensive Bar (to go this Irish bar next door), small rooms but well decorated, manager has an attitude, OK hotel but we would look elsewhere next time.

Room tip: Get a room on a higher floor. You can hear Times Square all night otherwise!

Dear Rhys M , Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I am extremely disappointed to hear of your experience upon your arrival to the hotel. We pride ourselves on the level of service we are able to provide each guest and we are looking into the issues you experienced. Stay. Hotel rooms are not the largest but far from the smallest in NYC, if room size is a concern we do have larger rooms that can be reserved, rooms provided are based on the price point and actual room size reserved. I hope you’ll give us another chance on your next trip to NYC. I would be happy to personally assist with your accommodation arrangements. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Had I not paid for this hotel in advance, I would have checked out immediately. I was desperate for a reasonably priced hotel at the last minute and this came up on a discount site, so I booked. I have never been somewhere so depressing. I've stayed in hostels that were nicer than this place.

My first room was so dark and unclean, that I was convinced a crime had been committed there at some point. I immediately asked to be switched to another room, and my skin was crawling as I was waiting to be moved. I didn't even want to sit down on anything. The only good part of my 5 day stay was that another room was available. This was slightly better, in that it appeared to have been cleaned recently, but I never let my bare feet touch the floor. Seriously, the bed was made each day but that was my only indication that things had been cleaned.

It was rainy and cold in NYC while I was there, and even though I had a cold, I dreaded going back to the hotel. The one time I had breakfast there, I asked for cereal and they had only two choices and no milk (someone had to go to the store next door to get milk. Even the server was embarrassed). The whole place is set up to look good but cause you misery (like the bathroom in the lobby has the toilet paper hanging from racks that you'll bang your head on. Looks good, hurts like hell.).

The staff alternates between creepy and disinterested. I wanted to complain to someone--anyone--a number of times, but I couldn't find anyone. When I checked out, I was so happy to be leaving I didn't bother to say anything.

The location is great, but don't do it! Really, don't. Please.

Room tip: I doubt there are any.

Filledelune, We are extremely disappointed that you were less than comfortable while in residence. I would love to address some of your concerns, We take the cleanliness and maintenance of our rooms extremely serious and will review our procedures since you felt we missed the mark. Reviews on our service and maintenance have been overwhelmingly positive and I am troubled to hear that your experience did not fall in line. We are uncertain as to why you felt that no manager and/or staff empolyee was available to address your concerns as there is someone available 24/7 at the front desk. Our goal is to provide total satisfaction to our guests and we attempt to do so daily.Lastly, I do regret to hear that you found our rooms and lobby area to be “the most depressing place I've ever stayed” because contrary to that point Stay. Hotel continuously receives positive reviews on our décor which was put into place by world famous designers. Stay. hotel has also been critically acclaimed by various outlets in the industry as top of the line. In an effort to provide you with an experience that is memorable for the right reasons, I would like to invite you back to Stay. Please contact me directly, so that I can personally assist with your arrangements. I know that sincere words of apology cannot make up for your disappointing visit. However, I hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

This was my first trip to New York as a present from my mother for getting good grades and a late birthday present. We stayed for about a week I think. We were initially supposed to stay for 4 days but then we got stuck in the city because of the hurricane (some first experience! ahah).

Anytime we stood in the lobby to talk to someone at the front desk, it always seemed to take forever. On our printed receipt we had booked a King Room but when we got to our room it was a Queen size. With my mother, my 8 year old sister and I, this was a pain. We tried sleeping in different angles on the bed just to fit on it. When we asked the front desk for a bigger room when we found out we'd have to stay longer, they said they were unable to although many rooms were cancelled..

The lobby's what sold me to tell my mother to pick this room and it is fantastic. Very modern, my sister really liked the fishes and such. It's in a great location, literally a couple feet away from Times Square but in a little neighborhood so you don't hear all the hustle and bustle. Also there's a little convience store right next to it that me and my family went many times to pick up breakfast and little snacks, so that was very nice considering the prices of everything in NY. The concierge and bellman were very nice, will always remember them. The hotel also has a little room that you can go in from the lobby to go on their 2 computers, this was also very helpful because my mother brought her laptop when she didn't have an anti-virus program and just used the free wifi so she caught a really bad virus that made her laptop useless during the trip. When we had to extend our stay, we were already running low on money so that was a huge issue, thankfully the manager Jasmine and her partner gave my mother a discount since which helped us a lot!

The doors were very heavy and loud, the elevators extremely slow but overall the location made up for everything. Would I stay again? Maybe I'll try another hotel or try booking a bigger room.
