I contacted the hotel in advance to request connecting rooms for 2 in our party and to ask for the other 2 rooms to be nearby ~ they confirmed this for me in advance and the rooms were perfect, on the 25th floor, and although they weren't "view" rooms, they had been recently remodeled and you could see Times Square from the windows with a little effort. Room Service was great, food was prompt and served hot. Loved the bars and restaurant on the 8th floor, don't miss The View at the top of the hotel, the slow rotation gives a 360 view of Manhatten ~ drinks there were the same price as other bars in the hotel and they offer a great dessert buffett. Special thanks to the concierge who took her sandwich from a zip top bag so I could replace the one I'd torn, my liquids made it through TSA just fine. This hotel is in a perfect location, it's an excellent choice for Times Square/Broadway.

First off a disclaimer: I'm a Marriott gold member so I did get a concierge floor room (and the brand loyalty did influence my decision to stay here over the conference hotel a few blocks away). I was also here for business rather than pleasure. As a hotel, it was impressive. The hotel elevators are a central bank and you simply type your floor into a keypad and it assigns you to an elevator (there are two sets - one for lower floors and one for upper floors). All elevators hit the first few floors though. The lobby/check in is on the 8th floor but was not tough to find. The room I got was on the 32nd floor had a nice view toward the river, and, for the amount of noise outside the building, it was incredibly well soundproofed (lower floors might be noisier). There is no pool, but the fitness center was well appointed and not too busy in the afternoon. There are some restaurants and the (vastly overpriced IMHO) View Bar that is popular with people not staying at the hotel (who ignore the signs that instruct them to change elevators at the 3rd floor and end up riding up the elevator with you). The elevators get extremely crowded in the evening with folks going to shows or coming in for the restaurants, and usually there will be a queue to get one since the elevator system keeps sending everyone to the same elevators regardless of capacity.

The hotel is an ideal location for anyone in NYC for fun - you're in the heart of the action. Not so great for business travelers since you need to battle your way through the throngs of folks taking in Times Square or waiting for theatre tickets (your cab fare will go up a few bucks as they creep through that traffic mess too) - and the nearest subway (even though it is still on Times Sq) is about a 5 minute walk through heavy pedestrian traffic. Long and the short - I would stay here again, especially if it were a pleasure trip.

Right on Times Square. Staff was very helpful. Very nice, clean room. We got a discount (convention) so I can understand the comments about cost. But if you are looking for a great hotel in a great location, you have to understand the cost. The food in the restaurants is similarly overpriced, considering you can just go around the block and get much more reasonable pricing.

I stayed here for a conference last week. I was in the hotel less than 24 hours and was decidedly underwhelmed. The rate was $400/night and with tax that came to $480. Room 2234 had a terrific view of TimesSq. so If you want a room for New Years Eve, this is the one.

Otherwise, look for a deal elsewhere. This room had little annoying things. Unintellible wifi hook-up. Directions to connect that don't match computer terminologies. There is no water in the room, either for free or for purchase. The full length mirror is 12 inches wide and you can only stand back a few feet. It needs to be bigger.

Breakfast in the cafe was also poor value for the money. The 27-year veteran waitress had to have my wobbly table called to her attention. The food was OK. Someone else was picking up the tab but even there is a reasonable expectation of value. I would only stay on a special rate next time.

Room tip: Room 2234 overlooks Times Square
