My family and I reserved 2 rooms for one night's stay at the end of July 2014. At best, this a 1 1/2 star hotel. I think at one point it was some sort of condo/efficiency building, because the rooms have a small kitchen, sitting area (with little to no furniture), and an area for the beds.
The check-in reception was fine, the guy was nice, and the whole building was freshly painted and looks good from the outside.......but the positives end there. The carpets in both of our rooms was heavily stained. The comforter had a hole in it. The walls were marked with scuffs and stains and were not uniform in color. It was as if the walls had been patched and repaired over the decades, and instead of painting the whole wall, they just chose a color that was "close" and left it at that. The closet was large, but only had one(!) hangar in it. The furniture was very old. The locks for both the front door and back door barely penetrated the wood framing of the door jam and could be kicked in very, very easily. There were no telephones in the rooms. The wifi, which was free, barely worked. The computer in the lobby didn't work, either. One of our rooms had missing light bulbs in the ceiling fixtures, so when we entered the room to turn the lights on initially, the room was quite dim. The hotel is located off a busy street with lots of choices for eating and shopping, but the neighborhood immediately adjacent to the hotel is a bit run down.......not trying to be snobby.
This place is basically a one or one and a half star hotel that charges three or 4 star hotel prices. If you go in with one star expectations, you won't be disappointed.
