First off, I have to say that this was once my favorite hotel in Anchorage, and I have stayed there many, many times over the years. It's clean, comfortable, beautiful, and centrally located. But I'm afraid that this last time has done me in. I made the grave mistake of forgetting to pack my laptop when I was checking out--my husband even commented on how light my bag was, which should have been a clue. We ran a few errands around Anchorage (never taking anything out of the car but my wallet and phone), and got home 5 hours after we checked out. I noticed right away that my laptop wasn't in my bag and called the hotel. I was patched through to housekeeping, but no one answered, so I was routed back to the front desk. I left my name and contact information, and was told I'd get a call back as soon as they found my computer. I called back about 3 hours later, and spoke to housekeeping, who said they never found it. I spoke again to the front desk, who said that it can take up to two weeks for lost items to work their way through the system, and again that they would call me. Then I noticed that I was double billed for my room. I had booked and paid for the room on Priceline, but when they took my card at the front desk for incidentals, they charged me again. After the two weeks passed with no communication, I called and spoke to the general manager, who told me that the two week thing was completely wrong, that he would suss things out and attempt to find my computer, and that he would get my bill sorted out. I never did hear back from him, so I called back again. The computer was never found. The charge is still on my credit card. As of tomorrow it will have been a month since I stayed there. Everyone was been very polite and courteous, and obviously it was my mistake to leave anything in my room at all, but I feel insult has been added to injury. My computer is missing and I'm paying double for my very nice room. I've received lots of apologies, but no compensation of any kind. Pretty bummed about the whole thing. I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel instead of the Sheraton when I went to Anchorage again.
