A wonderful hotel and the restaurant was superb! We had a "garden room" which as it says overlooks the garden! You can sit in the garden (deckchairs provided) and there is a patio outside the restaurant in which you can sit and sip your aperitif! The room was large and airy, bed lovely and comfortable and the bath was deep and had a headrest! Both breakfast and evening meals were superb and we definitely will return here. Must congratulate the young waiter in the evening. Sooooo professional!!

Room tip: Garden rooms have best aspect.

This has been one of the best hotels in which we have stayed in France. The owners run an efficient operation in a spot perfectly located for exploring the Loire Valley, its chateaux and the great vineyards in the area. The room was on the garden side upstairs, and with the exception of some slight noise from trains passing to the north, was extremely quiet. A deep bathtub and a comfortable bed awaited us after our drive from the Normandy area. Attached is a superb restaurant with classic French dishes well prepared and served by an efficient waitstaff. There is a great wine list with reasonable prices. There is WiFi in the rooms. The hotel is only about 7 kilometers from Amboise and about 20 kilometers from Blois. The garden in the back is peaceful, and the local orange cat may even pay you a visit in the evening if you are lucky. We highly recommend this location.

Pretty stop outside Amboise, with all the gloire of the Loire to see nearby. Garden-facing room, so quieter, with lovely huge beams and comfortable bed. Bed was particularly welcome after a week on an IKEA horror, so even when wakeful in the small hours, I felt it was luxurious and so relaxed into sleep again quite quickly. Good hot water, bathroom equipped with soapie goodies and hairdryer, only suggestion for owners is an eternal one: put up some extra hooks for towels, please! This is a terrific place to stay I'd you are in the area, and if you are, do yourself a favour: eat at the restaurant. the food is exceptional, and I will do a separate review for that (with photos). Friendly vibe, professional staff, the outstanding hospitality attitude for me was that I hadn't flagged my other half's gluten intolerance until we arrived late on a Monday. By Tuesday morning a delicious loaf of home-made gluten-free spicy bread was there for his breakfast. We have never experienced such a prompt and kindly response in any other establishment anywhere in the world. Outstanding.

Room tip: Road-facing can be a little noisier in busy periods. Garden-facing is pretty, but you do get a small amount of train noise occasionally. Neither issue detracts from the seriously great hospitality you will experience here.

Excellent service and food, the new owners Marie Helene et Jean Louis Lelong have continued to give the same if not better service than the previous owners.
We have been staying at this Hotel for over 10 years and the service & Food has always been excellent and we will continue to stay here both on our outward and homeward journeys.
It is nice to relax in our ground floor room looking out into the garden area especially after a long drive from England.

Room tip: All the room as good, we prefer ground floor room facing the garden

A French Adventure(or arguing with the Sat-Nav!)
The plan was to drive from Newcastle to Narbonne in the South of France Via Portsmouth /Caan ferry, take our time and stop a couple of times on the way down.
First stop was Premier Inn for a night with Lenny Henry (no sign, Molly was disappointed!) in Portsmouth and ferry next day to Ouistreham .The ferry worked fine except for a poor family with children whose car broke down on the ferry ramp, nightmare!. The crossing was smooth but getting out of Ouistreham was a tester. We had forgotten the D Day remembrance event was happening and the place was literally heaving with all sorts of militaria. With the minimum amount of fuss from the local traffic police and after a small delay we were on our way much to the chagrin of the lady in the Sat-Nav. Her navigational options did not seem to correspond with ours
We had pre-booked our stops with Logis de France and I had previously and confidently mapped all of our destinations on the Sat-Nav…………Hmmmm.
First stop was the Auberge De Launay in Limeray about 2/3 hours drive south from Caan. With Molly’s navigation skills and confrontations with madam on the sat-nav we made good time and found the most beautiful hotel in quiet countryside a little way off the peage. Our room was a comfortable first floor apartment with large bed and bath with shower over.

Dinner was at 19.00hrs which gave us time to shower and change and a short window of opportunity to squeeze in an Aperitif and wander round the beautiful garden.
Dinner was fantastic. Molly had duck and I had the steak. All cooked to perfection and accompanied by a local white wine and a pudding to die for. Then coffee and choc/little cakes in the garden (with midges……………well it wouldn’t be absolutely perfect now ,could it?)
After a comfortable nights’ sleep we were on our way to our next nights’ stay.

Room tip: There is a road adjacent to the hotel but we didn't find it intrusive even with the window open and shutters closed.
