I booked our stay at Ti Kaye in a bit of a hurry and was not expecting much. It turned out to be well beyond my expectations. I spent my morning sipping coffee on the porch and watching the very friendly birds hopping along the rail, my afternoons at the beach, my evenings by the pool, and my nights on the hammock looking up at the sky. So peaceful. I wish I could go back.

For those considering Ti Kaye, here are a few points to help you decide it if it right for you:

- Each room is really it's own little bungalow--with it's own four walls, entirely separated from your neighbors. They all have views of the ocean. They are all dreamy and about as romantic as you can get anywhere, period.

- It is well off the beaten path. Some might call it isolated. (More on that below)

- The spa. My girlfriend took advantage of the spa to have her first massage. She enjoyed the experience.

- The beach. Every beach in St Lucia is public, so expect to have non-resort goers at Ti Kaye's beach. Still, Ti Kaye has resort-only chairs set-up and there is service for drinks that are charged to the room. The "beach dudes" did not bother us. They will sniff you out, though. If you want to talk to them, do. If not, just say "no" firmly and ignore them. They knew we were Ti Kaye's and left us alone when we wanted them to.

- The kayaks are a nice touch. We paddled them out into the ocean and took pictures of the coves to the north and south of the resort. Another first for my girlfriend. She loved this!

- The drinks are wonderful. I picked up at least two new "favorite" drinks (wish I could remember what was in them!).

- The staff was polite. So were better than others.

- I recommend talking to the dive shop if you are interested in snorkel or scuba. They are very accommodating and really know what they are doing. You have to walk through the restaurant to get to the dive shop.

- Remote. The nearest US style grocery store is about a 30 min drive but we preferred the one about 45 mins away. The market at Castries is fun and great place to sample local food. Ti Kaye has a water taxi that can take you into Market at fixed times.

- Renting a car. The airport is about a 1.5 hour drive (if you don't get lost!) on VERY bumpy and skin-crawling, hairpin-curve laden road. I consider myself a good driver. I drove cliff and canyon roads in Colorado as a teenager, have been in Calcutta traffic and navigated an motorcycle around Ireland just a couple of years ago. All without any troubles. Still, these St. Lucia roads, while fun, are NOT for the faint of heart. Next time I will just pay for the airport shuttle. They have tours of the main attractions that leave from Ti Kaye and know who to call for more niche tours. Whatever you do, do NOT rent a car. Rent an SUV.

- Heat. We went in August. It was hot, but not like we were expecting. It turns out that we only used the A/C about half of the days. Even then, I wondered if opening up all of the windows and letting the ocean breeze blow through would have been better.

If you are not scared away by the remoteness, I think you will find Ti Kaye to be wonderful and romantic experience.

Just got back.If you are lazy and rich this is your place otherwise forget it. Its completely isolated and the island is tricky and expensive to get round. There is no room service and after the beach bar closes at 4 there is no other food other than expensive tiny portions of pretentious poncy art food not enough to feed a sparrow, staff up themselves, we had our privacy invaded by staff 4 times with no apology, didnt get either a promised welcome drink or our first water for free.

We did research and were not at all disappointed by our Honeymoon choice.

The ride in from UVF was long (75 minutes), but our driver, Christian (from Tikaye), talked with us the whole way. He also stopped at a grocery store for us after we asked and we bought breakfast and lunch food and snacks. We had also brought 6 bottles of wine with us in our baggage. This meant we only had to pay for dinner, which ended up saving us a lot of money.

Our room was amazing, plunge pool, hammock, rocking chairs, and a beautiful view of the ocean. It was very private, had AC if we needed it, and was always cleaned when we would come back from our day activities. At times we would come back from our night activities and the bed sheets would be turned down and the AC would be on! Preparing our room twice a day was nice. Like others have said, there are small bugs and it can get humid, but it's a tropical island. I was surprised there were so few bugs. They give you a mosquito candle for the mosquitoes.

We went on the snorkel tour where we got to see cool fish and other parts of the island and different resorts. If you're not a big snorkel fan Ti Kaye has some of the best snorkeling and you don't have to do the snorkel tour ($100) to see the fish.

We did the sunset cruise (65 per couple) and it was beautiful. Strong drinks and the dolphins were swimming with the boat! Great snacks and the boat guide (James Bond) was funny and personable.

We did the South Tour through Ti Kaye. It was us and the driver for 6 hours for $180 or so. Drove to some villages, went to an active volcano, and took a mud bath. Access to the volcano and mud bath was $22 to both of us. Also did some shopping in a small town. Stopped at a local restaurant recommended by our guide. Very good local food! I would say that this tour was a little pricey. Another couple said they rented a taxi for $120 and did the same thing. We also didn't get to go to the botanical gardens because we ran out of time, but that was our fault.

We highly recommend the wine tasting with Cleus. Very knowledgeable, generous with portions, and fun. Well worth the money ($60 I think?)

Service was extremely friendly and accomodating. We asked for cream for coffee and the just gave us a whole carton of milk. Some of the nicest people we've met.

We ate almost all dinners at the restaurant. Be ready to pay $100 a meal. I wouldn't go with the fish catch of the day, I just didn't like it. Anything with shrimp and mussels was good though. Wednesday night there was a mangers's happy hour. Definitely go to that. Free appetizers and strong (again) drinks. Friday night we suggest going to the local fish fry. Best fish we had on the island. Ti Kaye takes care of you to make sure you don't get swindled too.

Nice gym that we used twice to exercise in. We also ran up to the entrance and back down (~1.5 miles). Very tough but cool.

In all, if you are looking for a private, relaxing, and quiet honeymoon, there is going to be nothing better than this place. Lots of small touches, reasonably priced (especially off-season and with 7 night stay deal) and absolutely gorgeous.

Room tip: We chose DD, which is all the way at the end of the resort. Barely anyone walked by and was extra secluded.

My wife and I stayed at Ti Kaye village in August 2012. We spent one week at sandals grande and the second at ti Kaye. We were prepared that the two were on opposite ends of the spectrum from an activity point of view.

Our room was fantastic, including a plunge pool, outdoor shower, hammock, and magnificent view of the sea. It had a cottage feel and even though the frogs are a bit loud at night, we enjoyed the room. The only slight downfall Is that since the windows and doors are usually kept open, critters may make their way in so be aware.

The beech was natural with black sand and there are more locals trying to sell things but a polite "no thanks" keeps them away. Snorkelling along the reef was great and we saw many interesting fish.

Food was phenomenal and portions were huge - no complaints whatsoever. We did not go with the meal plan, which worked for us.

The employees were also very nice, especially Nadine from the restaurant. You also have to visit Wally at the bar. Not only does he make great drinks, but he is a pleasure to talk to. Sunsets from the bar are a great thing to see - or you can kayak out into the sea for an even better view.

We went to the Friday night fish party in town, which was coordinated by Ti Kaye at a very reasonable price. Again, we felt very safe as the guide stayed with us the entire time.

Overall, this resort has magnificent views, is very natural, and has a very intimate setting for honeymooners. If you want to spend a quiet, intimate, and extremely relaxing time with your significant other, this is the place for you.

Definitely the place to get away from it all. Loved staying here for our "mini-moon" about a month after getting married in Costa Rica. We were upgrade to a fully private Le Cottage (the middle range w/o any attached walls, but no plunge pool) and couldn't have been happier with our setting. Amazing view, private porch with rocking chairs and hammock. Beautiful room with fridge (we stopped at the grocery on the way there and got some beer, wine, and snacks before we arrived - worked wonderfully!) Amazing outdoor shower added to it all! Not a ton to do, but we were perfectly content. Free kayaks on the beach provided the opportunity for some exploring and there's snorkeling gear for rent as well. Comfy beach chairs and towels are provided. The upstairs restaurant food was good (although I liked most of the appetizers better than the meals) and, as other reviewers have mentioned, it's a little pricey. The restaurant by the beach was great for lunch and offered affordable and yummy options - just get there before they close! Remember the 10% service fee is already included (we were putting 20% on top of it all for most of the time, which didn't help our budget - same thing for spa). We got a couples massage, which was great! They seem to have different spa specials regularly, so would definitely choose one of those. The happy hour is fun and gives you access to a new space to explore. Upon arrival we had fresh milk and cookies in the fridge and the staff was nice enough to introduce me to the chef when I asked about ordering the same delicious cookies for dessert. The chef was incredibly sweet and brought them out to me for dessert on that same night (our last there). we aren't wine experts, but we did appreciate the selection and the sommelier's knowledge. There are little ants around (sometimes inside) and lots of mosquitoes (only had to deal with these on the porch outside), but it's the tropics and we didn't have a problem with this (just fyi for people who don't want any nature, St. Lucia may not be your destination - it's a lush island with plants and animal life, one of my favorite aspects of the place but maybe not for everyone). Loved this trip and hotel and couldn't recommend it enough! (PHV tours also provided the most affordable option to/from hotel and to/from Gros Pitons hike - Kimbert, our driver, was friendly and knowledgeable and added a lot to our visit!) Overall, it was a great experience and we highly recommend this hotel!

Room tip: They all have great views, but we loved the privacy of Le Cottage. (The views and rooms really are as pictured on the website!)
