Low-cost carrier AirAsia Japan (DJ) was founded in 2014 and started scheduled service in 2016. The carrier is a joint venture between Malaysia-based AirAsia (AK) and other partners, including Rakuten, Noevir Holdings, Octave Japan and Alpen. The airline operates from a hub at Chūbu Centrair International Airport (NGO) in Nagoya. Destinations include Sendai Airport (SDJ), Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport (CTS), and Taipei, Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). Affiliated airlines include Thai AirAsia, Indonesia AirAsia, AirAsia X, AirAsia Philippines, and AirAsia India.
