Airline service was good. The transit was a nightmare, 6 different checks, boarding pass, passport checks, bag security, 6 times, each time a long slow queue, ground staff brusque. Absolute minimum transit time needed from scheduled landing to re-boarding at the bearest minimum one hour, the onward flight delayed for 90 minutes, no explanation, missed connection, no compensation. However I would fly with them again but allow extra time.…

We recently decided to fly business class for our UK holiday. China southern had extremely cheap offers compared to other airlines. Having read many mixed reviews and noting our aim was to sleep to help avoid jet lag we decided to give them a try. We had an extremely positive experience. The aircraft is the new a350 and well configured! Pods comfortable and lay completely flat with comfy cotton duvet and pillow. Huge movie choice. Large food and drink selection! You will not go hungry on this flight if you like Chinese food. Staff were kind and accomodating! Toilets seemed to be cleaned each hour or so as I never entered a dirty toilet during my long haul flight! Some things to think about! We had a 4 hour layover in giant Zhou but in a lounge which was fantastic with recliners and showers and plenty of food. No direct flights to Heathrow so we had to get Eurostar from Paris. Checkin was a bit disorganised. Despite being business we were checked in and boarded with premium economy but this didn’t bother us still quicker than economy. English speaking was limited so at times was difficult to communicate. Inflight service was a little clunky and didn’t seem to follow routine but a if you asked you received no problem. No issues with bags and were checked through to Paris. International transfer at guang Zhou was a bit clumsy and over the top process but this is not the airlines fault! Slept beautifully, new A 350 compared to Qantas old crappy machines, great food plenty of wine - arrived feeling fresh. So if you are not status driven and want a cheap business class experience we highly recommend giving them a go! Will further review my experience on my return.…

China Southern Airlines is an airline that I would fly again because of its top-tier service and accommodation. I had no trouble checking in my bags or getting onto my flight. The food was a 10/10, and the service was also a 10/10. Overall I would definitely fly again with China Southern Airlines.…

THE WORST AIRLINE IVE EVER BEEN ON. Check in was an absolute nightmare and a joke and they wouldn’t let us check in with 1kg over even though we only had 2 luggages for 4 people. So technically we had a 80kgs limit but our luggages literally only added up to approx 42kg. The airplane itself is dirty, the food is HORRIBLE. Practically inedible. and they only give 2 meals for a 15 hour flight compared to other airlines that provide 3. The flight attendants are dismissive, I asked for water so I could take my medication and they kept telling us they were “busy” and I said its okay I can wait, but I would wait for so long until I would just end up getting water with my meal which delayed my medication by a couple of hours. The fly attendants barely know english which made me give up on asking for things in general. I fly often, and I’ve never been on a worst flight in my entire life. And looking at the reviews, Im terrified they’re gonna lose my luggage and not compensate for it.…

Sydney to Nairobi with a 3 hour layover in changsha. Immigration declined entry because we didn't have a 'permit' which the airline and itinerary failed to mention. I quoted from a Chinese website stating for less than 24hrs layover there were no requirements. Unfortunately the immigration officer had vanished, the airline did not understand why we were declined, and only after I suggested escalation via diplomatic relationship with a relative was I suddenly approved. Hostile, abrupt and incompetent is the best way to describe this airline. Do not, under any circumstance, layover in China. Additionally, I was assured the layover would not require disembarking because the same plane was to be refuelled and proceed to Nairobi. We disembarked, scanned passports, finger prints, facial recognition scans, rescanning and assessing our luggage. Never layover in China!! Ever!!!…
