Just an FYI , this is not exclusive to one airline. All of them have given me horrible experiences. For this round of United:
Someone was in my seat when boarding and refused to move or show her ticket. I was asked to stand in the back of the plane until boarding was complete to stay out of everyone's way. Turns out she was indeed in the wrong seat. I didnt like being pushed aside when I showed my seat assignment and she didn't , but the flight attendant was trying to be kind and keep boarding moving. Also, not confidence inspiring when the captain has to 'reset' (shut down and restart) the plane several times before takeoff due to electrical issues. The full plane got very hot and stuffy during this 30 minute ordeal. During drink service the flight attendant doused me with a soda she just opened, laughed at me and then got an attitude when I asked for napkins to clean myself up, as she wasn't serving my row yet. She rudely slapped a stack of napkins on my tray table and turned away, dismissing me.
Seats are horrible and so smashed together you literally have to cling to the seat in front of you to exit a row, which I know is annoying for the person in that seat, but there is literally no other way to do it. I'm short, 5'1" and still had to smash my face into the seat in front of me to reach my bag on the floor. Whilst walking the isle to keep my feet from swelling I was hard pressed to find how premium or business class differed from economy. I don't think they do, they look exactly the same. Feels scammy to me. Charge extra for an 'upgrade' that isn't visible to the naked eye, and probably measured in centimeters.
I do not know why they decided to put in a headrest cushion that bulges out from the seat back. It just pushes ones head forward making it impossible to remain upright comfortably. I tried to push it all the way up and out of the way, but it of course doesn't go far enough. I Also do not understand why they don't put five point seatbelts to at least let you be held upright by the shoulders, preventing slumping forward or onto your neighbors. I drive a 2002 pontiac that has more comfort options than the airplane seats we pay thousands PER FLIGHT for. Someone explain why they want us so uncomfortable!
Lastly, this plane was disgustingly dirty. The bathrooms were nasty, the tray tables clearly hadnt been cleaned in several flights (probably why they hand you alcohol wipes when boarding) and there was used tissue in the seat pockets. Also, they let the cleaners board during deplaning, making that process even more frustrating.
To all airlines CEOs and coporate big wigs: perhaps ride in YOUR airplane seats below first class for 5+ hours and see how your back and hips fare. God forbid you have turbulence and are unable to leave your seat the entire flight.
