About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Jenny H0 contributionsDo itI really enjoyed this tour, even though it was cloudy and we couldn’t see the sunrise. Our tour guide was fantastic, sorry I can’t remember his name, but he was a monk for 35+ years. I’ve been to Doi Suthep many tunes, but this trip was much more interesting with the back story of the monks. And the bats in the temple caves! Listening to the monks chant, it was all very beautiful.Written 28 September 2024
- ashleylH7482JP0 contributionsSmall group tourDefense worth waking up early. Beating the crowds and the heat. And honestly i think everything is so much more beautiful in the morning light. Sipohn was a great guide. He was able to explain and answer the questions we had. It was cloudy on our tour but still just as beautiful. The hidden temple was so beautiful and serene. With it being overcast and a bit misty it created a very peaceful atmosphere. Getting to sit with the monks while they chanted was really fun. Currently in my meditation era and definitely wanted that experience. He was also a great photographer!Written 21 September 2024
- elisabethmZ2734IS0 contributionsBook this tour!Amazing tour, highly recommend and very worth getting up early. Our guide, Tom, was so kind, spiritual, and knowledgeable - we learned a lot about the history of Thailand and Buddhism, and had great conversations. Absolutely loved having the chance to sit and meditate while listening to the monks’ morning chanting. Breakfast, views, and abundant nature around the temples were fantastic.Written 13 September 2024

- 412maxd0 contributionsWonderful Guide!Tom is a fantastic guide! Incredibly kind and detailed, he brings such unique knowledge as a former monk and is so willing to share his story and educate about religion and culture in Thailand and throughout Asia. Tom went above and beyond and even took me to local places not on the itinerary to show me more “local flavor” of Chiang Mai. I highly recommend Tom and this experience!Written 1 September 2024
- 324keiranf0 contributionsPaddy Rice Fields Terraces of Ban Pa Pong PiengTom was absolutely wonderful. He gave me so much history and fascinating information about Thailand in general, as well as the places we visited. The Paddy Rice Fields Terraces of Ban Pa Pong Pieng are worth the trip, and as it is off the beaten path it was quiet, with no other westerners while we were there. Tom went out of his way to look after every need, providing drinks, snacks, and showing me great spots for photography. He even changed our itinerary so that I wouldn't overlap with a different tour I have already booked for another day. I would definitely recommend this trip if you want to visit a very beautiful place that is not on the usual tourist trail.Written 23 August 2024

- 125fraserk0 contributionsNon & Tiger are the best tour guides! We did the morning sunrise tour with our guide Non and went to 3 temples along the way. We got fantastic photos and learned so much through Non’s extensive knowledge. The actual tour was perfect, but the best part was Non and his little buddy Tiger, a dog at the temple who had befriended Non over the years. We could tell that all of the animals adored Non, and having tiger come along for parts of the tour was amazing for us as dog lovers. Non was extremely funny, sweet and helpful on top of being very informative. He made sure to give other temple dogs treats along the way, and the reaction of the dogs towards him proved how great of a guy he was. This is a must do in Chiang Mai. A wonderful experience. Thank you so much Non!Written 17 August 2024
- SiamElephant19790 contributionsBan Pa Pong Piang, the most beautiful rice terraces in Chiang MaiThe small hamlet of Ban Pa Pong Piang lost in the mountains of the Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai province undoubtedly offers one of the most beautiful rice terraces in Thailand, The rice farming season begins in May when the first rains of the year fall. This is when you’ll see the reflections of the small rice seedlings in the water filled rice paddies.Written 13 August 2024
- mitralib0 contributionsMust do experience in Chiang MaiThe sunrise trip to Doi Suthep and the other jungle temple was an extraordinary trip. The guide Tom was very well versed with the history and culture. And explained the history behind both the temples very well. This is a must do experience in Chiang MaiWritten 12 August 2024
- CapeHope0 contributionsWonderful Experience Worth the Early Start!I was a bit wary of the 4:50 a.m. pickup but decided to book this tour and it was well worth it. I was traveling along and had only 1 other solo guest on my tour. Guide Thom was wonderful - friendly, energetic and full of great information. We drove the 30 min up to the temple with a short stop on the way to look over the city in the dark. The temple was beautiful at dawn, with few tourists. Being the "rainy season" I didn't think we'd have much of a view of the valley, however we lucked out and had a lovely view, though no actual sunrise. We were able to participate in the alms gathering process and sat in on a ceremony, listening to the monks chat. There were monks as young as 9 up to their 70s. Also a number of dogs and cats wandering the temple. It was wonderful. We had breakfast just outside the temple. They prepared vegetarian Khao Soi for both myself and the other individual on my tour, and had a full coffee and tea bar with all variety of coffee drinks. The food was very good. On the way down the mountain we stopped at Wat Pha Lat, which turned out to be my favorite temple during my trip to Thailand. Beautiful, peaceful, tucked into the forest among stunning greenery and a waterfall, I could have stayed there all day. We had the opportunity to speak with a Laotian monk who has lived there for 10 years. He spoke with the two of us about his daily activities, taught us a basic meditation practice and gave us a blessing. It was really lovely. The third temple was Wat Umong, which was interesting for its tunnels (including bats) but otherwise felt a bit commercial to me. Being back in a city temple after the peacefulness of Wat Pha Lat may not have helped the comparison, but I did not enjoy this stop nearly as much. We were back at my hotel by 10:15. Great job to Thom on a fantastic tour!Written 4 August 2024
- Tour277540947550 contributionsLovely experienceSunrise at the top of the mountain was beautiful. Very spiritual places - good selection of temples to visit. Our guide was knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions.Written 31 July 2024
- B3265FDheleng0 contributionsTruly a once in a lifetime experienceThe day trip was really fun! The plan was very reasonable and unique. Unlike other tour with many tourists, this tour took us to the local places where we could never experience anywhere else. The guide is very welcoming and nice. He helped us take so many great photos to capture the enjoyable moments. We had a really great time. Worth every penny and would definitely come back!Written 22 July 2024
- Mark M0 contributionsExceeded expectations more than I could imagine! My enjoyment began immediately after meeting Tom, our guide. He described his experience as a monk. His knowledge, not only of the life of a monk and their teachings, but also the history of the temples and Thailand, was fascinating. Sitting in the temple with the monks, presenting them with their morning meal, and a private meditating session with a monk was an unforgettable experience. The spectacular views added to the whole experience. I plan to return next year!Written 17 July 2024
- E5751BLnicoleh0 contributionsBest part of our trip to Chiang Mai. Real spiritual experience-This really made our trip. Such a special place- this morning was truly magical. The one on one time we had with our guide- my daughter asked so many questions and we really got a good grasp of the daily life of the monks. It was so nice to be able to get up to the temple before the crowds came. We were in the temple when they were chanting and mediating. This experience is once in a lifetime - my daughter and I will always remember our special time on the sunrise tour. Having a monk on our private excursion with us really made it so special.Written 9 July 2024
