For this tour, I was paired with Vinia, who was s1uch a lovely person to talk with. She knew her history and had me sample a lot of tasty treats : sugar cane, tamarind, cocoa beans, cocoa nips, coconut and even marshmallow coconut !

I got to understand how people lived, to learn about a bunch of different trees, plants and flowers grown locally, and to view live demonstrations - whether it was the famous Coco Rina dance or the dehusking coconuts.

I highly recommend this tour to anyone curious about learning more about St-Lucia while expanding their taste buds.

We went on the historical tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. Jonathan was our guide around the traditional Carib village, herb and spice garden, cocoa bean processing, coconut harvesting and more. We were treated to fresh mangoes and coconuts picked especially for us and prepared by Terry.
It was great value for money, around $11 (USD). We went in the morning and felt like we had the estate to ourselves and as we were leaving around 1PM large coaches of visitors from cruises/organised tours arrived so we would recommend going in the morning if you want a more private/peaceful tour. Definitely worth doing especially if you want some island history or if you're going to the nearby mud baths and waterfall. It's also nearby to Hotel Chocolat/Project Chocolat so is a good (and much cheaper!) alternative for seeing how raw cocoa beans are processed into a form ready for making chocolate. It's a good precursor to the bean to bar experience. Definitely worth the trip if you have a car to travel there.

An impressive demo of the processing of cocoa beans and the method of getting to the edible parts of coconuts. I was surprised how labour intensive these activities demand. The demos were expertly shared by one of the dryest, throwaway humerist Andrew and his energetic and able machete wielding sidekick. A good pair of stout lads to demonstrate the donkey driven grinding mill too! The replica Carib village was worth exploring. Finished with a Creole buffet lunch.

This was part of our booked cruise excursion. A tour guide took us around the gardens and buildings. There were several demonstrations and tastings.
When we were done with the guided tour we were offered lunch, we found the food to our liking. Remember, what one person finds yummy, another person finds yucky. After lunch there was time to do some souvenir shopping.
If we had been here on our own, we would have spent more time walking around. There are a lot of things to see.

Visitors get the opportunity to see a working mill, houses, and rum making at this estate with buildings and dwellings. Locals hull and split coconuts for samples of the coconut milk and meat.

We had a tasteless, unappetizing Caribbean lunch at the estate dining room.

We did the estate tour with Noelita. It was a nice surprise and suggested to us by our tour driver Byron. We got to taste cocoa beans, coconut, raw Coco, Basil, coconut candy, and other fun things. It was very interesting seeing how people lived on the island in the 1700s. The tour did not take very long, maybe 30 minutes, so it was a nice quick introduction to historical St. Lucia, with a great tour guide. A very pleasant experience!

This was a very interesting tour. Our guide Natasha was lovely, and she provided wonderful commentary as she showed us around the grounds. We learned a lot about how they grew and processed cocoa and coconuts, very cool tour with great photo opportunities.

Our tour by catamaran from the Viking Sea, included a tour and Caribbean lunch at this 18th century estate and botanical garden. They had a demonstration of how they open coconuts and the guy that was doing it was a pro who made a difficult task look simple.

We did the tour as part of the Tout Bagay trip. We found the process boring and tedious. I thought it’d be fun and hands on, but instead a woman just monotonously spoke at us. We thought we’d be able to try the rum... we could for an extra $10. Tour lasted half an hour.
Really really unkind on the poor donkey who has to parade around in a circle whilst being tied up to show tourists what used to happen with cocoa.
Lunch was 2/10. Not recommended.

We appreciate all reviews as all our guests’ opinions are very important to us. It's unfortunate that you did not to enjoy any aspect of the Historical Estate tour which takes you through the replica Carib Village, the herbal garden, the 18th century copra oven, the cocoa house and the sugar mill. Along the way you get to see first-hand the building techniques used, the lifestyle of the era, the processes used to produce copra and the first stages to producing chocolate and extracting sugar as well as being offered to taste the coconut, cocoa and sugar cane throughout the tour. Our rum tour can be enjoyed for $5 where you get to taste several local rums produced right here on island in the distillery, a great value compared to trying different rums at a bar. Thank you for your concern for the donkey that you saw, we have more than one donkey so that they do not work every day. The donkeys are only harnessed on the sugar mill during the demonstration where they do to two circles and then thoroughly enjoy the sugar cane husk that they are fed during each demonstration as a treat. When there are no tours they are unharnessed and graze nearby. They spend no less than 20 hours daily grazing as they please. Our local cuisine buffet style lunch with local bread, fresh salad, calypso rice, lentils, dasheen, breadfruit, plantain, stew/curry chicken, creole fish and cake for dessert is quite tasty and offers a range to chose from and I’m sorry it did not meet your expectations. Thanks again for your review, I hope I have given you some assurance that the donkeys are well taken care and I hope the rest of your stay on our beautiful island of St. Lucia was very enjoyable.

We absolutely loved the tour of this stunning estate and would actually happily return at a later date to enable me to take some (more) pictures because it’s so beautiful. I’m not into photography but wished we could have been left to our own devices to explore and take pictures of the stunning plants and indeed the views down to the bays below.

Unfortunately I didn’t catch our tour guide’s name but she was excellent, she knew her subjects well but also made everything interesting, including little quizzes (the vegetable game), that I know wasn’t played by other guides because I passed them. That was probably the only real issue, there were a number of tours and we occasionally bumped into each other or had to move on quickly to accommodate them. The food was basic and not to my taste but that really wasn’t a problem for me, inconsequential as I wasn’t hungry anyway. Others appeared to enjoy it - fish, chicken, rice, coleslaw etc.

Seriously, don’t miss this tour..
