About
Gunung Mulu National Park is a protected rainforest in Malaysian Borneo. It’s known for its dramatic peaks and caves, including the huge, bat-filled Deer Cave. The cave leads to the Garden of Eden, a hidden valley and waterfall enclosed by limestone cliffs. The Pinnacles at Gunung Api are tall, jagged limestone formations with steep trails and rare orchids. The summit of Gunung Mulu Mountain has views over the park.

- macfod00TickedPaid to much to see the unusual shape sandstone rock. Just a one hour return boat ride for most visitors where the boatman wait to grab you. The rock is smaller than we imagined but we got photos and crossed off our list. Luckily, we saw the errawaddy dolphins en route back that made the trip.
- blinkybillWhistler00Flexible sight seeing tourAs myself and my daughter were the only ones on this tour, the tour guide, Andy, was friendly and accommodating. Besides the mentioned destinations on this tour, I was able to have a drive down memory lane and visit the site of my previous primary school in Miri, which is now Piasau Nature reserve. To make up for time, some of the other places we drove past, and others were closed on the Sunday (eg Petroleum museum). Our last stop was so crowded as it was the weekend and we were unable to find a parking spot so had to just drive past Coco Cabana instead. I suggest doing the tour on a weekday. All in all our tour duration was still 3 hours. Andy could answer the 100 of questions I asked him about Miri and Sarawak - he is a bank of information and knowledge. This tour is highly recommended if you would like to see the sights of Miri in half a day.
- Safari5157474935100Awesome day!A great day out! Would have liked to walk more of the trails but in the group you confir to the majority! Our guide was over qualified! Knew every plant ! Boat ride was good and smooth!
- ParmananthamK00An Incredible Day Trip to Niah CavesThe trip to the Niah Caves was one of the highlights of our recent visit to Sarawak. Our tour guide provided sufficient information to prepare us for the nature walk and the climb to the Niah Caves. The drive from our Miri hotel to the Niah National Park took about an hour and a half. The walk to the caves is about 3 km through true nature and the track is mostly on planks installed by the park authorities. As we started early in the morning, the walk was pleasant - not very humid initially. After the climb to the Traders' cave, we entered the Great Cave. What an impressive sight, nothing like being there yourself. There were number of locations where archaeological digs were being carried out. Unfortunately, we were not able to proceed to the Painted Cave due to closure for archaeological works. This is an experience not to be missed if in Miri, Sarawak!!

Really enjoyed the cave walks, even in monsoon rain on first day. The cabin was comfortable and quite satisfactory to stay. Food provided was good and we really enjoyed our stay.

The setting is beautiful and convenient to the Park. The chalet I was in smelled so strongly of mildew and mold that it could knock you over upon entering. The air conditioning was barely functioning. There was no drinking water provided and no refill station so a lot of plastic waste. Every little thing is an extra charge including wifi or changes to the set breakfast. I was sick and requested rice and toast which cost wise is cheaper but they charged extra. I asked if someone could help with my luggage on departure as I was weak but I was told no one was available.
I do not recommend the Rainforest Lodge as it was the most expensive thing I did while in Borneo and the accommodations and services were a big disappointment.

Good morning, is it possible to do the 3 days 2 nights visit as we arrive at Mulu airport around 12:00?
Hi there!
I was hoping to book this tour for the 26th of february for 1 person, but it seems like it’s impossible for just 1 (me). Is there another way to go on my own the 26th?
Hoping someone can help me :)
Kind regards,
Julia

How do you get to the caves from your accomodation? How long is the walk? Is it a moderate walk? How high is the altitude?

There is a hotel shuttle service (approx. 10 mins) to the Mulu National Park HQ . There are various type of accommodation in the National Park. The National Park has many well maintained boardwalk to the caves or trails. The longest walk to the caves was about 5 km. The wooden boardwalk were all flat. It is importance to bring raincoat and gloves (for the caves).
I am interested in joining this tour in November. I am middle age, considered fit, but I am only 150m in height and light. Would I be able to wade through the rivers that I read could be as deep as 150m. I am not a good swimmer either. Your response is highly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, good to hear from you. Regarding your concern, just to let you know that we will go to Clearwater Cave and Wind Cave by longboat and we are NOT crossing any river. So no worries of getting wet.
P/s: one of our tour guide is also 1.50m, no problem at all :)
I want to know: what does the package includes? How can we reach there from kualalampur? If we book the long beach, we are getting one lunch. But for other 3 days, can we easily buy lunch from their? I am planning to visit on July. Is that a good time?

Hi. If you are flying from Kuala Lumpur, the nearest airport will be Miri then from Miri you need to buy another ticket to Mulu via Maswings. July will be a good season to come over. Our packages for Longhouse is inclusive of entrance fees, 2 nights accommodation, 2 breakfast and 1 lunch and of course with english speaking guide. Itinerary will be inclusive of Lang and Deer Caves of Day 1 with bat exodus and 2nd day will be Wind and Clearwater caves with Batu Bungan Penan settlement. Hope my answer is clear. By the way, i'm Wilson.
Hi, if we arrive in Mulu on the 11:40 flight, should we find accommodations for that night and start our tour the next day, or would it be acceptable to start our 3 day tour when our flight arrives at 11:40?
Thank you,
Michelle
